Hello I've recently got a blade and found this forum full of great info thanks

I've been testing out the vlingo app in car mode and when I receive a msg it says the number who sent it,

not the persons name but when I click safe-reader it says the persons name, am I doing something wrong ?

I'm wondering if its because I have my contacts on my gmail account not sure ? or maybe I'll have to add the +44 at the start to the numbers ?

Anybody else had this problem

I use Vlingo.

It gives me the possibility of Bluetooth Voice Dialling.

But I barely ever use texts, and have no idea how Vlingo handles them in practice.

I thought that the idea was that you could ALWAYS enable SafeReader, so that texts and emails arriving while driving could be immediately read out to you, without your having to touch the phone at all ...

While I like Vlingo, it does have some odd limitations.

InCar can understand "Navigate to Fred Smith, Work" perfectly, but Google Navigate just throws up an "unknown destination" dialog box, because poor old Navigate seems to need the actual address, rather than just the contact's name ...

Vlingo looks up the contact's phone number and email address before trying to pass them on for execution, but it doesn't seem to do the same lookup for Navigation.

I can well believe that Vlingo (itself) doesn't lookup the contact names for incoming text phone numbers, but that SafeReader does.

Solution, turn on SafeReader automatically when starting InCar ...

Thanks for your reply

I've tried with safe-reader turned on when I get the msg it reads the number but If I go back into safe-reader and select a msg to read out it reads the senders name

Ok looks like if you add the +44 to your contacts number it works correctly
