Guest isambard Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Very nice tool. As a recommendation: the used functions are not self explaining to all users. It could be helpful to explain the features in this thread or on the linked market page. Otherwise your app will stay as a tool for freaks - but maybe this is what you want it to be ? Thanks for your work. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add better descriptions. For now, it's intended only for testing by experienced users who know what they want to change.
Guest isambard Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 New version uploaded. Hopefully the scrolling is now a bit smoother/faster. Also uploaded a donate version for those who want to support the app or prefer it without adverts.
Guest hecatae Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 wahey just bricked my blade by using this to change vmheapsize, saved a new heapsize and deleted the tailing m, result at reboot is permanent green android
Guest isambard Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 wahey just bricked my blade by using this to change vmheapsize, saved a new heapsize and deleted the tailing m, result at reboot is permanent green android yeah. don't omit the trailing "m" otherwise a heapsize of 24 bytes is probably not much use :D i planned to have a custom edit dialog for that setting which avoids this danger (also similar things for 'numerical' inputs) but i just need to find the time for it.
Guest hecatae Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 any you could build this into it? dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=12m dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m
Guest isambard Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 any you could build this into it? dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=12m dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m added to the PRO version. will also add to the free version on the next update.
Guest HMZX Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 added to the PRO version. will also add to the free version on the next update. when is the next update?
Guest isambard Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 when is the next update? as soon as i get more free time! hopefully this w/e.
Guest isambard Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) OK. I got really annoyed with the lack of a decent Free Timer application, so I wrote my own. Get it on the Android Market with the following QR code: So, now I hope back to Blade buddy. I did add some features to the PRO version and now I just need to combine back to the free version as they got a bit out of sync. Hope to update soon. Edited April 4, 2011 by isambard
Guest mickey megabyte Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 thanks for the timer app, isambard. one problem i've noticed (or it may be design!) is that if you tilt the phone (so it goes into landscape) while the timer's going, you get taken to the about screen, and pressing the back button visually sets the clock back to zero, although the alarm still sounds at the right time. :D i'll give you some stars if you can fix this. also, would the word 'start' make more sense than 'add'? and finally, visiting the app's webpage reveals some css (?) problems using the stock android browser and miren (which i think uhas the same engine) - seems to be okay in other browsers.

Thanks for the feedback. The orientation change is a known issue (on the homepage - see for workaround too) and is planned to the fixed in the next version. I also plan to remove the 'about page on start'.
Guest isambard Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 orientation problem now fixed. will need to look at the website...
Guest mickey megabyte Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 bravo for sorting it so soon, and changing 'add' to 'start'. it would be nicer if we could see the clock as well as the stop button in landscape mode. well done for removing nag screen too! five stars coming your way B) my pizza's won't get burned ever again now! :D
Guest isambard Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 when is the next update? Free version is now also updated to have the additional VM settings.
Guest isambard Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) OK. Version 1.0 of Blade Buddy PRO released. Features include: - Re-designed modular UI (this will allow me to more easily add features) - Ability to remount /system as read-write or read-only, effectively turning any explorer into a Root Explorer - Gen1/Gen2 device detection and /proc/iomem output - Integration with basic settings Spare Parts Plus! (see below) Get it now from the Android Market: As a sneak peak and to show what future ideas I have on the roadmap, see screenshots below: I also wrote a free app: Spare Parts Plus! Which has also been released today. This is a basically like Spare Parts we know and love without the Ad Mob adverts and with integration to Blade Buddy. Get it now for free from the Android Market: Edited April 17, 2011 by isambard

Guest isambard Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) Looks good i will test it do all the options work? As i dont think they all worked in the standerd spare parts. The new options are part of the new UI and this is for the PRO version only. Next week, if I have time, I will try to merge the PRO and free codebase so that they are both on the same code base and easier to maintain in future. Until then, the free version has none of the new features, namely: - Re-mounting /system as writable - Blade Gen1/Gen2 detection - Blade unlock/re-lock (although you can use my free Blade Un-locker app for this) - Spare Parts Plus! integration (although you can install and run this app separately) Edited April 17, 2011 by isambard
Guest isambard Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Attached is a clockwork mod script which will delete /data/local.prop and therefore reset blade buddy settings. This is useful if you do something foolish like reduce your VM heap size to 1 byte or change your LCD density to a outlandish value and make your device unusable or un-bootable. Just boot into CWR and then install the zip file.droidgram_bladebuddy_reset.zip
Guest isambard Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 OK! Finally, merged the code based. Big changes: - I've now removed adverts from the free version! - Free version also has the same UI as the PRO version (but not as many features) As a special Easter offer, I've reduced the PRO upgrade price to £1, so grab it while you can! :)
