"Faster Phone" and "Speed Boost" make your phone 80% faster - Hoax?

Browing through the Market on my phone I found these apps and couldn't believe my eyes, so I looked them up on Google and got here to ask:Do these really work or are just useless?

First one, same can probably be accomplished using Opera and their nifty compress before sending the page thing, as they only talk about website stuff.

Second one the reviews hint at confirmation bias, but there is no evidence to show that the app does any good. Want a faster phone? Overclock and keep crud off it.
