Guest nutrione Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) Hi there all I just got a wildfire with android 2.2.1 and HBOOT 1.01 and I can't root it with Unrevoked3. the program just stays in "Waiting for device..." state and won't do anything. I googled a lot, and it seems that this version cannot be rooted, yet. but I saw someone recommending a shipped ruu of eclair (2.1) and then rooting from there. is that the only way? I visited http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/ but I can't decide what to download, which one should I download? any help is well appreciated  Edited February 28, 2011 by nutrione
Guest nutrione Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 no answer  can you plz at least give me a link to a shipped ruu of eclair (2.1) rom? I don't know which one to download.
Guest sadie Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 No, this wont work. There may be a way to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 but the HBOOT will remain the same.
Guest nerdo Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Yes, as per today there is no "software" method to root Wildfire with HBOOT 1.01 There is no way to downgrade that HBOOT either Someone over at XDA managed to downgrade the Android version from 2.2 to 2.1 using a RUU BUT THE HBOOT remains the same so still can't be rooted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921752 The problem can be solved however by using an XTC clip(hardware) which will wipe all security data (S58) meaning you will get S-OFF, super CID and unlock.. and of course the device can be easily rooted then THE GOOD NEWS Paul fell into a phone4u trap yesterday and got the Wildfire with HBOOT 1.01 :( He does have the XTC clip but hopefully he will come up with a more accessible solution for the masses :(

Guest AndrewMF Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Is there any news on when unrevoked will have the new version out with HTC Wildfire 2.2/H-Boot 1.01 support?
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Is there any news on when unrevoked will have the new version out with HTC Wildfire 2.2/H-Boot 1.01 support? Well, I don't think there has been much news from them recently, unfortunately.
Guest oli_rip Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 on twitter We're aware of Sebastian Krahmer's new release--excellent work by him! This can help temproot Wildfire, but permaroot still needs more work

Hi If you don't mind me asking, is this all speculation regarding the XTC Clip or has someone managed to downgrade the HBOOT version on a Wildfire using one? (and have they written down what they did?) I know someone with a Wildfire, and I know a man who unlocks phones who says that he has an XTC Clip. He only knew about unlocking networks, but I'm hoping that he'll let me borrow his Clip for 10 minutes for a small fee. So, has it been done before or is that all theoretical? Any howtos? Thanks ;) Also, what's S-OFF if you don't mind asking? Edit: Okay sorry, forget the S-OFF question, a quick search of google brought lots of results, but how about using an XTC?
