same here, on two vegas on 2 seperate routers.

This forum will advise on a work around using a static ip address or changing channels. The fact is this is not tackling the actual problem of identifying why the vegas are doing this. As you say, reset the router and it connects straight away. So far no one has come up with a solution only a workaround. Maybe it's time to contact advent technical and report this common fault.

I should add everything else always connects to the router without any problems, laptops, phones etc without issue....it is only the vega that won't connect, so the issue is with the vegas as far as I can tell. Anyone help ??????

Good luck! I suspect it's a hardware issue coupled with an Android problem. Linux has a history of Wifi problems. Not much Advent will be able to do.

Anyway, changing channels is the way to go. No need to reset the router. Run Wifi Analyser and find a nice clear channel. Change the router channel to a clear one. Install Wifi Buddy then go to Preferences->Advanced Settings->Regulatory Domain and select 14 channels. This is a solution, I've been using it for 3 months with no problems.

Setting a static IP address has nothing to do with disconnections. It simply speeds up the time it takes to reconnect after sleeping.

If you know what you're doing, set your DHCP scope on the router to start somewhere at something like 30, e.g. 192.168.1.30 (the subnet of course depends on your router) OR reserve the address your Vega is currently using. Then install Wifi Static. Click Add Configuration then select your network SID.

If you don't know what you're doing, just do the Wifi Static bit. The only downside of not setting your DHCP scope or reserving an address is a remote(ish) possibility that you'll get a clash of IP addresses (the device clashing will tell you) in which case, delete the configuration in Wifi Static, reboot the Vega, redo Wifi Static and wait for 3 months for the next IP address clash.

Cheers

I think the vega wifi reception is a bit weak...compared to other devices i have lying around. I had a similar problem with a PC and solved it by switching to a quieter channel.

I have followed all instructions here and can confirm that there is still a problem.

Never been a problem on other Android devices in my house.

I have the same issue, but its an android problem not a Vega one. It appears to be a fault introduced onto 2.2 which effects the use of only some routers. I had the problem first with a HTC hero running 2.2.

The general lack of interest in the issue on various android forums has led me to the conclusion that those of us afflicted with this very annoying bug are just unlucky with our choice of router. May be we should start a support group:)

Anyway I'm getting bt infinity installed on Monday with a new home hub. So hopefully my misery will be over.

Just use Vega-Firmware 1.09 an you should not have any WiFi-problems, but losing then USB-Host... :D

Should not be required. Other android devices in home do not have this problem

Firmware update for router?

Always worth updating the firmware of the router. It could add certain support or maybe bug fixes

That's if there is an update for your router.

I had this problem. Read all posts and tried everything. People suggested it is the router, others say the tablet itself. All I know is that when I swapped my original Vega with the problem the new one connected without any problems.
