Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Ok, so I've worked out the reason I was having so much trouble finding how to switch USB modes is because I obviously didn't select it from the kitchen in the first place  Anyway, I found a thread with the USB switcher software (an apk file) which I copied to the SD card, selected with ifilemanager, and managed to install Ok by the looks of things :) But, how I've run into problems again... I don't know how to view what's on the USB stick (a jpeg) After searching on here, it looks as if I have to do the Gscript thing to view files through the gallery, is that correct? What I want to be able to do is use the Vega to view jpegs on an SDHC card from a digital camera to see if they're "keepers" or not for those times I can't get to a pc.

Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Thanks for that, it just wasn't finding anything there though. Sadly it appears to have been the wrong app anyway. The Vega wouldn't shut down properly and now it just sticks at the "booting..." message, can't even load the thing so I've some more work to do yet...

I think your best bet now is to reflash to 1.08 then apply Pauls r8 - thats what worked for me and it includes the usb switcher. The only thing I had to do after that was install my apps & do the wpa_supplicant patch to enable ad hoc wifi connections
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Thanks for that, I'l get reading up. Just to clarify, the 1.08 is the one that gets downloaded from the AdventVega website which goes on first, then reapply the r8 afterwards?

You can get a link to 1.08 from here If you run into driver problems then have a search around - it's been covered loads of times because loads of people have struggled with them at some point myself included.
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 That's awesome mate, thanks for your time. I'm going to take it to work tomorrow, it's the pc there that I flashed this one from and also successfully did a friends. I have trouble with the drivers, as you say, on the laptop at home although I think I've worked out what that is but all the time the Vega won't boot, I'll play it safe and do it from work. thanks again, Chris
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Right, all working again, and I can now switch between USB host & slave mode :) Still can't view the USB files, but I'll sit down quietly this evening and work through it as I'm obviously missing something glaringly obvious, but the main thing is the Vega's working again :P Cheers, Chris

Not sure if you've got that covered already maybe try reformatting the usb stick or try a different usb stick.
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Cool, thanks for that. I'm not seeing a USB icon at the top which was confusing me. I'll try formatting it and see how it goes. Hopefully the camera will recognise a FAT32 drive, I can't see why it won't really. Cheers, Chris
