Guest wilko1 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Hi Guys, I have had my vega for two days now so I am not that familiar with it yet, so be kind to me if I am missing something really simple. I turned the vega on this morning and I can't get it to do anything after it has booted up. Icannot move the lock symbol up to unlock it and tapping the screen does not do anything, so I am at a loss as what to do next. Any help would be really appreciated. wilko

If its still stuck then try flashing latest firmware (as per the instructions on myadventvega site). If that doesn't work then...dunno...broken??? If you can get the menu up by holding the power button on the lock screen (i.e. it has not totally frozen) then it could be the touchscreen at fault.

Guest wilko1 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks for the replies, I have used my thumb, finger (fist!!) but no joy. I have powered down holding the on/off button but still no joy. Looks like a trip back to PC World.
Guest wilkinsxg Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the replies, I have used my thumb, finger (fist!!) but no joy. I have powered down holding the on/off button but still no joy. Looks like a trip back to PC World. Hi wilko, I had exactly the same issue with a Vega I bought on Saturday. The morning after buying it the touchscreen stopped responding completely. I performed multiple restores and custom rom installs in an attempt to get it working - but it became clear the hardware had died. I took it back on Sunday, demonstrated the issue to the lovely lady at PC World and she replaced it immediately. Usually these devices will go wrong in the first few days of use if they're going to go wrong at all. Make sure you restore the original factory rom if you've installed anything else prior to taking it back. Edited March 2, 2011 by wilkinsxg
Guest GemPatsu Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Had the same problem. When it happened to me I had the nexus s livewallpaper applied. when I long pressed the back hardware button to unlock i saw that no matter where i touched the screen only the very left of the screen reacted (I could tell by the the colored stuff from the wallpaper). So I thought the screen was broken. This all happened to me while I was on holiday so couldn't do anything about it. When i picked up my vega a couple of hours later it was working again. This kept happening to me a couple of times always when i carried the Vega around in my backpack in the cold. Very weired. As I bought the Vega in London and I'm in Germany i just can't return the device. My work a round is to place the screen calibration app on the always responding left part of the screen. Using the app solves the problem immediately. Ok i hope that made some sense at all. Next time it happens i will make a video.
Guest wilko1 Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Hi Guys, Just got back from PC World and they have got the vega to work. They said that the lock button at the top of the unit wasn't turned fully off. I moved the button on and off loads of times trying to see if that was the fault but it made no difference to the screen, thats why I asked for help on here. Anyway I will see how it goes and if it happens again I will take it back for a replacement. Wilko

Hope this doesn't keep happening!
