Guest miksmith Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Hi All of the ROMs come with pre-installed apps (e.g. QuickOffice). It appears that when you load Market, Android doesnt look for updated versions of these apps. How can I search for updates and then install them? thanks mike
Guest rayraven Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Android detects most free apps on the system and offers updates. Apps which arent detected, just re-install the app from the market, you should be able to keep it updated.
Guest womble_sanfran Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 pre-installed rom apps live in /system on your phone, stuff you install from the market goes to /data. it is market which checks for updates and if it doesnt know you have installed an app (ie it was installed with your rom) then it doesnt know to check for updates. Therefore if you want an update you need to go on the market and get it and the new version will go to /data and the old version in /system will remain there taking up space and not being used.
Guest oldfella Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 most of my apps are added to /system before I flash it - no problem with Market updates, they just get new versions written to /data
Guest targetbsp Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 For more fun, Titanium can put the new versions that you download into data over the system ones to free up space for you.

Thanks for that.... so using clockworkmod, could you install apps to /data instead??
