Guest jonmac73 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Advice please on charging cables etc. Was looking at getting this car charger - read on here it charges at full voltage Amazon - Fonerange InCar Micro USB Charge from ADVERTISING SPAM But might be better usage to get another Micro USB cable and a car usb adapter thing. Would I be right in thinking any cable should work - like this one...... Amazon - Belkin USB to USB Micro - currently £1.99 Anyone with experience that can recommend a USB Car adapter that would work ? Thanks in advance Oh and thanks to recommendation/threads on here I have OSF, unlocked, running FBL Froyo 9b with mods fine (soon to be 10) - so thanks to all.
Guest Swimmerboy Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Looked around and found that for myself just a 12v->USB was the best option as I could then plug in a variety of devices: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0047Z3...ref=oss_product Can confirm that one of these sits snugly in the accessory socket and doesn't protrude too much. It also charges at 'full' rate, not USB rate so the phone doesn't take long to charge up at all. Also got myself a right-angled connector as the 'straight' connector was disrupting the view! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001AR4...ref=oss_product
Guest The Soup Thief Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0047Z3...ref=oss_product Nice! Have seen these on sale previously but always for a tenner or more I got a poxy one from a pound shop - sticks out of the dashboard like a second gear stick, so I'll be having one of these stubby delights just as soon as the internets can get it to the postie

Guest lefthook Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I picked up very similar devices from Dealextreme. Delivery takes 2-3 weeks but is included in the product price and the items work without any problems.
Guest jonmac73 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks swimmerboy. Was looking at the Belkin one but this looks good and cheaper - think will get a couple of extra micro leads too.

Happy to help - I've had it for a few months now and not had a single problem with it. The only small gripe you may have is that the red LED on top is quite bright at night. It doesn't bother me as most of the night lighting is red in my car anyway, and as it sits in a little cubby hole beneath the radio it actually lights it up quite well when I'm looking for my housekeys! In the worst case it's nothing 30 seconds with a sharpie marker wouldn't fix I'd imagine!

Would I be right in thinking any cable should work - like this one...... Amazon - Belkin USB to USB Micro - currently £1.99 Not got a car adaptor yet, but did pick up this cable as I wanted a longer cable for general use and this one works fine for mains charging, and through the Nilkin case as well - nice and secure for me.... The car adaptor from Swimmerboy looks nice and compact though... If you were considering the Belkin compact model, read reviews as apparently this can be a little hit and miss on some models of car.....
