Guest andrewjones Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) Was prompted to update Angry Birds from the market, but this update wouldnt apply with an error like 'Appname install failed unknown error -18' Stupidly I unistalled it completely and tried to reinstall from the new version on the market - but this fails with same error. Anyone else had this issue - and been able to work around it? Edited March 3, 2011 by andrewjones

Guest andrewjones Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 reboot? Yes tried both a reboot and a complete power down/up , no joy . Also tried restoring from a backup - failed. Not a disk space issue either I think, internal shows 57% free...

Guest andrewjones Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 hmm, do you have access to titanium backup (pro) or cwm recovery? Yup the backup I tried to restore from unsuccessfully was taken using Titanium Backup... it said the file restored ok, however the installation still failed

You're a star ! Maybe even after uninstalling there was something pointing to the sd card. Anyway, demounting temporarily helped reinstall Birds
Guest hybr1d Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 You're a star ! Maybe even after uninstalling there was something pointing to the sd card. Anyway, demounting temporarily helped reinstall Birds :( This error is generally caused by a dodgy file in .android_secure on your sdcard. You may also be able to fix it by mounting the sdcard on your computer and delete a file called smdl2tmp1.asec If that still fails then try removing the entire contents of .android_secure
