Home and work profiles for Tasker

Hi ive been using android for a couple fo weeks now, I got an X10 mini pro, my first android and im happy so far... Ive been trying to play with Tasker before deciding whether to buy a full version and so far like what ive seen.

I would like to set up a profile that senses if i am near to my house and turns WiFi on and data off and vice versa wwhen i am not at home, From what i read this will help save battery. I have a profile to turn of data and wifi while i sleep and this is the next step for me, then one to set silent on, vibrate off etc when i am at work.

I think i have crated the tasks that will do all these but im sturggling to get it to check my location. Ive been trying to use "cell near" as this will still work with wifi and data off, but the profile keeps turning on and off.

Anyone any ideas of the best way to set it up? should i use a quick GPS fixed at particular times or is there a way t make the "cell near" work better....

Any ides would be gratefully received.
