Guest Nguyen Huy Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Hi everybody, i'm a Android's newbie. I have got a 2nd-hand Huawei U8230 this morning. It's pretty good, but I cannot install better applications with Android v1.5. I'm looking for a stable Android v2.1 for my device, but i don't know what's better? I found a Australian version and Sweden version. The current build number is U8230V100R001C00B263. Thank you very much! Ah, 1 more thing, can you tell me how much free memory when using that update? My current free RAM is 160 MB.
Guest eckengucker1 Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 No difference in matter of stability. Free mem should be about 90 MB (Am I wrong?)
Guest Nguyen Huy Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Can you give me link download ROM and tools
Guest pepe24 Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Can you give me link download ROM and tools Hi, This one is the best for me.... http://www.redbullmobile.at/service/folder/ (RBM2 is U8230) Regards, Pepe
Guest AntonioPT Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Free RAM should be around 120-130 MB.
Guest mikeb90 Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) WAIIIIIT pay attention about what i'm going to say: HUAWEI has made two versions of the u8230, the first one is equiped with less ram and internal memory.... becouse it was thaught to run with android 1.5... so if you bought this version... you can just dream about having all that free memory's amout XD i've almost 20 mb free in my cell just after the installation of the CM6... if you're a lucky boy, you bought the newer version, which has more memory... otherwise...you're in our condition (me with the u8230 "old" and the u8220 users XD) of praying in order to don't run out of memory installing 10 aps...there's of course DTa2sd... but it doesn't make miracles... :( Edited March 3, 2011 by mikeb90
Guest twrock Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 i've almost 20 mb free in my cell just after the installation of the CM6... !!!! Are you serious? Is that after the installation of the rom only, or after installing gapps as well? I have an early generation CHT8000, and I have way more free memory than that after a basic rom installation. Some of the modified Gapps (mine included) will install a bunch of stuff to /data, filling a lot more of your usable memory. But you can delete everything installed into /data yourself after installation. I'm just having a hard time believing that Huawei made any phone with less memory than the original CHT8000. It seems to me that you should have far more memory free after a CM6.1 rom installation. Of course DT apps2sd and cache2sd will really help with that problem too.
Guest Nguyen Huy Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) Yeah, I updated Australian version (RBM2), it took 2 minute for update and 3 times restart. It's lucky that I remember how to change language :(. Now I have Android 2.1 with 140~150MB free RAM Edited March 4, 2011 by Nguyen Huy
Guest mikeb90 Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) @twrock: yep, afetr installing gapps i've that kind od freespace.... so if i erase the content of "/data" what is going to happen....? what do we have in that directory? o.o PS: chache2sd makes too slow my cellphone.... iv'e tried it last time i formatted... it gave more problems than before: the device was restarting almast 6 times per day xD Edited March 4, 2011 by mikeb90

Uninstall anything you don't use, and you will get the space back. cachesd seems to work fine on my phone with a Class 6 SD card. I don't know why it is slow for you, unless you have a slow card (Class 2). I don't know why it creates stability problems for you. But remember that the many different performance settings really do affect each other. You can read about some of my suggestions over in the second post in the basic CM61-Pulse0.40-f0.3.2 thread. Stability is most important to me. That actually is one of the reasons why I am using my current CM61 mod. It just is more stable than any of the 2.1 roms I've used, has more features, and is faster. Of course I haven't used all of the possible 2.1 roms, but I don't have any serious motivation to try when what I have is working very well.
