Guest sonofveritas Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Just come across an article from CNET where they use a Java script benchmark to compare the new iPad against the old one plus a few more : CNET. I just tried my Vega and it came up with a score of 3890ms - look at how slow the Galaxy Tab is!
Guest thedicemaster Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 i estimate the vega with honeycomb would get about 2200, and with honeycomb+overclock 1800. better dual-core support matters a lot, as shown by the comment from the xoom owner at the page you linked.
Guest davethechamp Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 seems to show the new software is more optimised, rather than the hardware being that great. software is always developing and this doesn't really show or prove much at all in my book!!

Yes i believe ios 4.3 has a new javascript engine. I guess by choosing to benchmark against this then it shows how much better it is than the old ipad and ios but i'd like to see other benchmarking which is consistent across each platform and also newer devices running the latest android. All good though as this all makes manufacturers want to make better devices

That still matters, but it doesn't mean you can't get the same results in the future even in a single core processor CortexA8, with enough optimizations. Also, is browser extreme performance that important (that's almost the only thing where Javascript performance matters)? For some people, it is, but not those many people.
