Market App keeps freezing the device

Problem : Ive been trying to, touch / hold / slide the Market app icon across to the remove area, but every time I do, it opens up the app, then when I close it the icon increases in size and the machine freezes... I then have to put it to sleep / awaken, then all seems ok. BUT still cant move the market icon

any ideas? ta

ps works fine with other apps / icons
