Guest lituison Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Hi, my newb question for the day is: Sleep policy for WLAN is set to 'never', yet when the screen sleeps so does wifi. My rom is r12-update-modacocustomrom-blade-kitchen-unsigned.zip)

AFAIK only CM7 has properly fixed the issue (not 100% sure though). You have several options: Flash CM7 - fully fixes wifi Use blade wifi fix - won't keep wifi on when phone sleeps, but does enable it properly when you wake the device. I think some 2.2 roms do the same thing, but at the OS level rather than app. use Advanced wifi lock- keeps wifi connected by preventing the phone from sleeping. If they phone isn't sleeping, it uses more battery power. You can still turn the screen off though.
Guest wbaw Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) I've had a few disconnections even in CM7, but it is much better for wifi than any of the other roms, it reconnects automatically almost every time, no need for blade wifi fix, it's the first rom i haven't needed to use it on. Guest IronDoc Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 FWIW, CM completely fixes it for me. Best 2.2 for wifi was JJ for most people I think.
Guest stellablade Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I'm running the latest Japanese Jellyfish and still have the wifi issues. So I still use Blade WiFi Fix. FWIW, CM completely fixes it for me. Best 2.2 for wifi was JJ for most people I think.
Guest Anjan Tek Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 (edited) According to this issue in the CM7 Issue Tracker, the WiFi sleeping problem is still there in CM7 RC1. I haven't tried CM7 yet, so I can't confirm that. Edited March 5, 2011 by Anjan Tek

Guest g-rasshopper Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Out of interest, what firmware version was your phone originally supplied with? The reason I ask is because some people here have reported that wi-fi appears to be more stable on phones using the new stock Orange/Zte B10 firmware.
Guest maltloaf Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 I'm using REGPON wifi KeepAlive from the market. I keep meaning to replace it with the Blade Wifi fix to see if there's any significant battery saving. https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.mi...dou.regpon.wifi
