Guest tzifos Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) hi, I have a problem. I use a 4GB microSDHC card in my Blade and now I got a 16GB Class6 microSDHC card. I use the MCR r12 with as2d and as2d+ so I have partitioned my 4GB card to 3300MB Fat32 and the rest 700MB as EXT2. Now I got a faster and bigger card and I need to clone my old card (both fat32 and EXT2 partitions) to the new one. How can I do this ? I have 2 USB readers so I can mount both cards on my PC and something is telling me that I might need a Linux distribution (I have one) to do the cloning. Can anyone help me with this ?? You could, as you said above, load any linux distro and do a straight forward copy. Alternatively you can do a full NANDROID backup, partition your new SD card as you want and then transfer the save NANDROID onto the new card, via clockwork just execute the restore.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 download clonezilla burn it in a cd boot follow the menus that's all :(
Guest tzifos Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 download clonezilla burn it in a cd boot follow the menus that's all :(hhhmmmm clonezilla ! I like its name, sure I'll try this
Guest aliaird Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 At the risk of hijacking this thread, I'm in a similar position, but have never used a2sd / a2sd+, at least not knowingly, or ever knowingly partitioned anything, though I have a feeling it might have been done for me when I used Clockwork to install vaious ROMS? (I'm using MCR 11 at the mo). I have used Titanium backup and other apps to move apps from android to the SD card. If I get a bigger SD card, can I just copy all across via my PC hard drive or do I need to partition (know nothing about how to do this or even why) and follow the Nandroid or other routes suggested earlier? thanks in advance
Guest tzifos Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) I have downloaded the Parted Magic 5.10 boot cd (get it from http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=downloads and contains a bootable iso with linux and a LOT of tools for disks, partitioning, cloning etc) and wrote it to a CD. Boot from that and use the GParted application to partition the new 16GB card to Fat32 and EXT2 partitions, like in my old card. My next step would be to run clonezilla to clone the partitions but GParted had an option to copy & paste a partition and I tried with GParted to copy&paste the Fat32 and Ext2 partitions from my small card to the new 16GB card. 10 minutes later after the 2 copy&paste operations were finished (one for the Fat32 and one for the EXT2) I booted fine with my new card in Blade without the need of clonezilla !!! So if you need a similar tool Parted Magic 5.10 boot cd is your best friend !!! Issue solved ! Edited March 6, 2011 by tzifos

Guest Mr E Mann Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 (edited) +1 for Parted Magic Just remember to be careful... make sure you copy from the smaller card to the larger card :( Not that I didn't... but I did check, re-check and check again before copying :( (better to be safe than data-less!) ...if all else fails, plug the cards in one at a time, to different usb slots, and see what they get allocated to Edited March 7, 2011 by Mr E Mann
