Guest Stuart500 Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Hi Recentlu got advent Vega and upgraded to enable flash player. Previously when at home was connecting to my BT Home Hub no problem. Also have connected to other wi-fi networks when away from home. Since last weekend though my vega has recognises & remembered Home Hub it just will not connect - just keeps scanning, recognising and then disconnecting. It then keeps connecting to BTFON or BT Openzone.Every time i try to connect it scans, authenticates & just disconnects with a message saying disabled. Ive tried deleting and adding as a new network and also reset hub - no joy at all Apologies if this is covered elsewhere in the forum, but I did a search and couldn't find anything - could be me as im new here and a bit of computer numpty :( If anyone could help I'd be very grateful Thanks in advance Stuart

Assuming you know what you're doing... The Vega seems to be particularly susceptible to noisy channnels. I've got maybe 6 or 7 Wifi devices around the house and only the Vega struggles. To fix, download Wifi Analyser and look for a clear channel. Change your router channel to match. Download Wifi Static (nothing to do with your issue but does make resuming from sleep much faster) and if you really know what you're doing, reserve the Vegas IP address or set your DHCP scope to be high enough up to give the Vega a static address each time. Whilst you're at it, also download Wifi Buddy. Somewhere in settings, you'll find regulatory domain. Set to 14 channels. The Vega defaults to only 11 channels. Cheers Edited March 5, 2011 by simonta
Guest simonta Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Sorry Stuart, just spotted the computer numpty bit :( Do you know someone who could find their way around your router configuration? This page shows you how to change the channel and also set the DHCP scope (pool). http://www.filesaveas.com/bthomehub_wireless.html Please post back...

Guest photons Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) Hi I had this exact problem on a couple of occasions. There are two things that will likely resolve this problem. 1) Simply switch your modem from 'OFF' to 'ON' while keepiing your vega on with Wifi connected. 2) Delete your remembered Wifi password and then retype it carefully. Remedy number 2 should work, and it is not just the vega which is affected by this. Also, to test whether there might be a problem with your vega's antenna or software you could always pop down to your local Mcdonalds. There is free wifi there. Edited July 20, 2011 by photons

Okay cheers appreciatet your reply just hope I can get things sorted as I cant play with my newly delivered toy until I get this problem sorted !! okay wifi is deffinatly working as there is a list off spots found, one off them was unsecured and gave it a little test :o worked okay !! wifi password is fine. have resett the router and changed all channels again without any joy either. only thing I have not done as per your suggestion above is to switch the modem off to on whilst keeping wifi turned on. wish me luck !!!
Guest IanTurner Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) The current BT adverts praising the qualities of the home hub claim it seeks the least cluttered channels automatically. Might be that those are the ones above 11. On second thoughts forget that as then it wouldn't see it. I take it you haven't done anything to the vega just prior to the wireless problems. So have you got it working? Can't believe you've had the vega since March and been unable to use the internet. The vega is almost useless without it.
