Ad of a 1:1 copy of advent vega (Just like POV Mobii and Exper Easypad) claiming Full HD playback support. I guess we should have a look at its ROM :(

Have you tested the firmware yet. I don't want to brick my pov until its tested.

Advent can do 1080p as long as its in the right codec and in a mp4 container.

A friend has just unyaffs'd it and reported that there is no media player in it.

But I'd like to compile my own unyaffs, coz compiled ones don't seem to work with my own machine.

BTW there is another media player claiming hw support, TOSHIBA MEDIA PLAYER which has bundled with Toshiba's AC100 Tegra 2 netbook. Those who can use unyaffs right now, please take a look at that system.bin,

Just to remind you all that any enhanced media playing in a tegra2 rom is _not_ going to be built into a media player APK, it'll be part of opencore/stagefright and built into the framework and system libs.

Also remlap is right, the Vega can to 1080p H.264 baseline profile in an mp4 container for bitrates under ~15Mbps

Did unyaffs, Toshiba Media Player works fine, though cannot test if its 1080p playing, because I have no such videos. Other stuff in this ROM is standard and not very interesting.

Not sure if I can post the .apk here. Maybe Toshiba is not be happy if their player is spread over all Tegra tablets :(

Yes i did test it and as the rest are saying... No media player in the tablet.

And just a FYI...

You cant brik the tablet... There is a reson why the updates for the firmwares comes with nvflash because that is the "safemode"

Ok, as I got some requests, I made a quick review with screenshots on my homepage. You can download the player from there as well.

It is using the stock player so no 1080p or 720p other than in H.264 baseline.

It is the perfect UPnP network player :(

Looks like its just a UX100 so it will probably use the UX100 firmware that has been floating around for ages.

Thank you for the details and download link for new media player. I really like it and it works a treat.

Did you find anything else such as browser or email programs that could be of use to use Vega users.

Jason.

The ROM is not the original Toshiba ROM, so I am not sure which apps were removed.

I two other apps, ToshibaFileManager and ToshibaPlaces. First is a quite basic file manager, comparable with the iFilemanager we get with the Vega. The second is the Toshiba Marketplace for apps. There are NotionInk apps as well in, NotionInk_email and Sniffer.

Didn't find out what launcher is in the ROM, it might be PanelManagerApp.apk or PixelQiScreenCtrl. No idea what they do.

Tonight (Japan time) I will zip the whole system of the ROM and put it on my website, if someone is interested.

[EDIT]

I forgot, the browser is Android standard.
