Guest Reading1800 Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) I see from Steves guide:- Newer ROM's can be installed with Clockwork 3.0.0.6 - you can install this if you want - but Clockwork 2.5.1.8 can install any of the ROMS (this guide currently shows you how to install 2.5.1.8 - however to install 3.0.0.6 - just swap to the newer file - the instructions are the same) I have 2.5.1.8 working with JJ, is there any benefit in updating at all or is it a case if it ain't broken don't fix it ?? Thx Edited March 6, 2011 by Reading1800

Why not just recommend using the latest version? Is there any downside to using version 3.0.0.6?
Guest jonmac73 Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Is there any downside to using version 3.0.0.6? I was wondering the same thing ? Have FBL 9b currently and not looking at moving until more stable newer is out - presume 3.0.0.6 works backward with that ?
Guest Hello8 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) I was also a bit confused about this comment. Why not just recommend using the latest version? Is there any downside to using version 3.0.0.6? Update, now I have installed FLB Froyo, after I have signed into the market, I can't download apps, it just says "Starting download..." for a very very long time, is it going to be forever? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi! I am new to Android. At the moment, I am using Orange San Francisco's stock rom. I want to upgrade it to Android 2.2 . I am trying to install clockwork, which one should I use, Clockwork 3.0.0.6 or Clockwork 2.5.1.8 ? I have installed clockwork 3.0.0.5 for the past few days. So far, the Recovery Manager displays: Currently installed Recovery: Unrecognised Currently installed Firmware: de-Oranganated vr5 now, the step: choose "Install Firmware" from Recovery Manager: it says: "error, you need to install a custom firmware before you can install a new firmware!" I am on Orange San Francisco (OLED)'s stock ROM. I have even checked the MD5 , it is correct, is it correct that I just need to delete the Clockwork 3.0.0.5 img file, then replace it with Clockwork 3.0.0.6 or Clockwork 2.5.1.8? Which one is suitable, Clockwork 3.0.0.6 or Clockwork 2.5.1.8? (Also, if I install Clockwork 2.5.1.8 now, will I be able to install Clockwork 3.0.0.6 easily later on? Because Clockwork 3.0.0.6 might be useful for installing Android 2.3 etc.) Also, I wish to know that which ROM should I install on my Orange San Francisco (OLED)? Should I install FLB-Froyo Blade r10b, Japanese Jellyfish RLS9 or another good ROM? Lastly, I have backed up my phone using Titanium Backup root for my settings and app before installing a new ROM, is it enough? Or do I need to use the option of "Backup Current Firmware" from Recovery Manager to make a full backup of my device before installing a new ROM? Or should I do both types of back up, just in case? After I have installed a new ROM, do I just delete either the directory called clockwork or TitaniumBackup when I restored my phone in one of the two ways. Thanks for your help.
