Guest josh11112 Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 I updated my vega to pauls custom r8 rom, now i am wanting flash again but dont have access to a computer. I downloaded the stock rom onto my vega and tried to update it in settings by derecting it tothe rom i renamed update.zip problem is that when it reboots it tries to go into recovery mode but just stays at the android coming out of the box screeen. Any suggestions? Or way to get flash on r8? I have tried downloading flash with links off different threads on here but none work. And i font have the shuttle_priv folder to re enableflaash
Guest rferrett Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 I know these things are really daunting when new but you really ought to do a quick search before starting a new topic. This thread:- http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...p-update-guide/ Is on the front screen of the vega topics and if you searched you would find loads. ---------------------------- Anyhow what has happened by the sounds of things is you have rebooted to recovery without having CWM installed. So if oyu follow the guide I linked to at the start you will be able to flash to stock in NVFlash recovery and you will be good to go. Be aware that stock does not have any Google Apps so you wont have the market or anything like that. I'd say you are much better off with MCR and installing flash manually. Just my 2cents.

I have cwm installed, so is it only possible to boot to recovery when it is plugged into a computer? I have looked for flash download links just to add it on but none of them seem to work? Do you have a download link you used for it? Thanks
Guest rferrett Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 There are two types of recovery. One is the inbuilt Nvidia recover called NVFlash. You need to be plugged into a PC to make use of this functionality, it is how you flash say stock ROMs or recover form something gone badly wrong (as seems to have happened to you). CWM is like the next stage of recovery it sits after the NVFlash (so is removed if oyu install a stock rom via NVFlash). When you have run the recovery APK and just get the icon on screen that is usually because CWM is not installed or not installed properly. Unfortunately when you get to that stage the only answer is to flash a stock ROM via NVFlash. Hope that helps.
