ZTE Blade - No Signal, dismantle mobile?

Hi there,

I just bought a ZTE Blade orange and to my surprise the mobile suffers from (Very) weak signal strength which most of the time results in a no service message. The mobile will at times manage to connect to a service provider (whilst in an open space) but will still eventually lose signal. Needless to say the mobile is of little use although its still brand new! I have tried installing different roms but to no avail, the signal problem seems to be hardware related.

I am seriously considering dismantling the mobile to check for any loose connections or perhaps a snapped wire! I guess this will void warranty so I would like to check if anyone have any experience with dismantling the phones or with the signal strength problem?

Thanking you all in advance for your help!

Take it back & get a replacement. My first phone had serious issues.

Just thought I would share the following maybe it will help someone out there. I ended up opening the mobile and to cut a long story short I found a wire (which I believe is the antenna) detached from the board. The ends of the wire connect to the upper and bottom part of the board, and one end of the wire was detached from the bottom connector. I simply attached it to the board and the antenna is now working like a charm!

Yeah :( but that was my problem in the first place, I could not be bothered to send the mobile back as I don't live in the UK.

I had the same problem as you (very poor signal strength)mad.gif

I decided to open the mobile to see the antena cable, but it was attached at both sides dry.gif

I just move the antena cable in both connectors and mounted again the mobilehuh.gif

Now, the signal strength is good!!!biggrin.gif

I had the exact same problem. I know those connectors are fiddly to attach, but there is no excuse for them not to be connected from the factory.
