Hi,

How do you do a COMPLETE wipe of the phone, right back to Factory settings, every time I wipe the phone and put a new ROM on it, it still has all my apps installed from my SD Card even though my SD Card is completely empty!

Please tell me there is a way to do this, because I think something I have done updating ROMs down the line has messed with the Camera application and I need to send the phone back, but EVERYTHING needs to be gone!

Thanks!!

In Settings, under Privacy, there is a Factory data reset option which sounds like its what you need. Or you can wipe data and cache partitions from recovery.

I have tried this, but everytime I boot up the phone, even after turning automatic back up and recovery of apps and data in FroYo, the apps are still there.

Bit odd. I did it the other day by using the wipe options in recovery as i was changing from Pauls ROM to FLB r10b and didnt want any leftovers.

Id format the SD card, stick the Rom zip on it, boot recovery mode and do both wipes, then reflash from the zip. Really cant be any way for anything to be left over then. It isnt going to try to restore anything from the google servers until you set up your account either, so you can make sure restore options are turned off.

There is no way you can be wiping /data and your SD card and still have apps there :(

So they're on an ext partition right?

You realise deleting the files on your SD card from windows won't affect that? Though the wipes should have I think.

I know it can't be restoring anything, from anywhere which is really odd, I wiped user data, through both clockwork and the privacy menu, made sure both backup and restore were unchecked, formatted the sd card in clockwork, wiped data and cache, wiped dalvik cache (not sure if that makes a difference), basically made SURE that there was nowhere to restore from, yet somehow after all that, the apps are STILL there! =S am I right in understanding the FroYo native a2sd saves to the FAT system? or is a partition needed for the native FroYo version?

This is all too confusing, I need absolutely EVERY trace of custom ROM removed so that I can send it back to Orange for repair.

Thanks

This makes no sense.

Yes froyo native apps2sd saves to FAT in a folder called .android_secure

What happens when you boot with no sd?

being restored from the market automatically ?

I think there is a setting on that

Yes but you have to log in to the market with the Google account before it syncs so t really does make no sense why the apps are still there as I have a couple of apps installed from the SD card and the data is no longer there to recover...
