Flext9 voice not working on Modaco 2.1 or Jellyfish 2.2?

I've been using Flext9 for a week or so now with my OLED San Fran, initially on r14 of the Modaco 2.1 ROM, now on current Jellyfish 2.2. Swype-style input works but voice-to-text transcription doesn't work, no graphical-equaliser-style bars appear when it's in voice mode, it doesn't appear to register audio at all. I've tried two completely different ROMs, the San Fran isn't on the approved hardware list but I really want to get this working. Can someone give me some pointers as to where to start troubleshooting this please? Is anyone else having the same issue or has anyone else got it working?
