Guest zippyman_uk Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) Ok ok ok. I have just got my Vega and of course it does need the 'extras'. I have tried to follow the instructions and with no joy. i am running windows vista and one with window 7 but when it comes to the point where i have to locate the drivers for the usb nothing happens, as in my computer does not find the drivers! Could any one please email me or really give a great 'like a 6 year old' version on how to carry on. Edited March 8, 2011 by zippyman_uk
Guest jlgreg Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Hi I followed this guide, specifically how to install MCR. I found it very straight forward. http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...p-update-guide/

Guest osmildmay Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Hi, Had the same issue - tech_fox came up with a solution in post 29 of one of the threads ... you need to change the "USB mass storage driver" in device manager to "USB storage driver" or something similar! Then the device driver installs correctly (particularly in Win 7). If you cant find the post I'm referring to let me know! Hope this helps. osmildmay

OOOP sorry for the caps! OK, I'm going to be cruel to be kind to all you newcomers. You are not reading the instructions! There are 2 guides in there, one to install the Advent (Stock ROM) and one to install the mcr. Have a look again. In the instructions to install the mcr, where does it mention APX?

What says "they are the wrong files"? 2. What do you mean "there more than one that look the same"? Are you trying to update the "NVidia Harmony Device"?

What do you mean "there more than one that look the same"? Are you trying to update the "NVidia Harmony Device"? Sorry if me asking, no begging for help came across a little 'rude' (long day, kids, mortgage etc.) When I downloaded the files and unzipped them, it seemed that I had to unzip the usb files again inside the initial download? So when I was asked to Browse for the driver my self I did but the pop up came up 'No files found'? If any one could kindly give there time to fully give instructions for it and email it me so I can print it out and really concentrate doing the job. Giving names of the files to look for etc would be really helpful. [email protected] many thanks.

You'll find a ZIP file called r1-tegrausbdrivers-modaco.zip. Unzip this and in the resulting folders, you'll find a file called android_winusb.inf. This is the file you need to browse to when installing the driver. I've just released a very detailed, step by step guide for XP here: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...for-windows-xp/ It's chock full of screen shots. Good luck
