Guest kenship Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Hi! I'm trying to better use the "limited" memory of the Liquid E, the idea to transfer app to the system partition seems good. And I want to verify the workflow before I create a disaster for myself. From what I gathered here and there, I suppose the work flow is as follows: 1. Install the latest version of the app that you want to transfer. 2. Back up the apk 3. Unistall the latest version of the app 4. Rename/remove the apk of the app in system partition 5. Move the backuped apk of the latest app and rename it to the orginial name of the app as it is in the system partition. How's that sound? BTW, can someone confirm me the correct paths for the folders of the app in system partition and data?
Guest Thmz159 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 wow that's soo complicated O,o I just use rootexplorer, browse to data/app longpress the APK I want to move, select 'move', go to system/app and paste it there and it works :( But remember that apps on the system partition can't be updated. I only move things like flashplayer and the keyboard. I haven't tried the launcher, maybe do a nandroid and try to move it.
Guest o2mike Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I am not sure if you have to uninstall the apps or if just moving them is enough. Also not all apps seem to work if they are in the system directory. Some disappear and reappear only a couple of seconds after reboot. The correct paths are as follows. regular apps: /data/app/ system apps: /system/app/ The directory /system/app/ is flagged as "read only" and you have to change the permissions to be able to paste anything in there.
Guest kenship Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I used super manager and moved the HTC_IME mod, no problem! I'm thinking Flash, FB and Google Maps as well, because they don't get updated as much as other apps I use. Thks mike for the path!
