1. you cannot update from .exe file, you have to extract the .zip file first

2. this file contains bootloader and radio images along with the system image, if you flash it your phone won't be rooted no more

also, i don't see any particular reason to chase after OTA upgrades -- once you have your phone rooted, it's much safer to get the image you really want with all the software you need and flash it manually.

How do you extract the Zip to get access to the system image? or do i just connect my phone and follow the program through without having to manually flash it from a Zip as we usually do with a rom.

The reason im unhappy with my rooted phone is there seems to be very little phone memory left and ive tried a few images now and its still pretty low and am hoping that if i return it to stock the issue will be solved and if its not the OTA to Gingerbread may sort it out. The rom that i have on now is suppose to be a stock rom with no addons. which it seems to be but this memory things very annoying as you have always got to keep an eye on the memory.

cheers for your help :(

You can run the RUU as it is, that's the whole point of it! However, you're better off with the latest one - 2.29.405.5

http://www.multiupload.com/LEJCW182AH

To flash it:

1. Turn off the phone

2. Turn the phone on holding the BACK button

3. Once in 'fastboot' connect to the PC

4. Once it displays 'fastboot usb' run the RUU

Should this fail then yes, extracting the ROM from the RUU would be the next way to do it. In which case read the guide I posted on XDA

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...p;postcount=102

As a side note, a stock ROM will have poor storage and this won't be fixed by Gingerbread either. If you want to install more apps then a custom ROM using A2SD is the only way
