why do you want a new screen?

If its because its faulty then return to pc world for a replacement

if its because of the screen quality then you will struggle to find a screen that is better, one is under testing now for $70 but the improvements are not likely to be that dramatic, and takes some slight modification to fit.

Hi

I'm sorry to say, it got accidently damaged so really hoping some kind person can point in the right direction into getting it replaced.

It would probably be cheaper to claim on your home insurance depending on your excess? That's exactly what it is for! :(

My excess is the same price as a new Vega, so I was hoping someone may know a place to get it mended (if it works out cheaper).

Hmm... it might be possible to grab a screen from a faulty (i.e. cheaper than new) Toshiba AC100 netbook.. but without having one handy it's hard to say if they're compatible. Even if you do find a screen elsewhere, are you thinking about making the repair yourself? I love fixing my own gadgets, but it might work out quicker if not at least more cost-effective to go for a new Vega. Alternatively, somebody on this forum had a faulty Vega that was dismantled (scratches head - can't remember who or why).. they might be willing to sell the screen?

Not promising anything but if you send a private message to the Advent team they may well be able to help out somehow as they have been really generous to Modaco members in the past. Their member name is 'Advent Vega'. Let us know how you get on? :(

The other slightly more fraudulent method would be to take the whatever happens out on it but don't say that its broken. You would then have to wait until the direct debit comes out before claiming.

Note to mods: feel free to delete this if its not allowed.

Yeh, that's a good idea. Let everyone who has insurance pay for it instead. Slightly more fradulent? How much more fraudulent can you get?

Well, it's nothing more than i've been told in the past by staff members in store.

I have Whatever Happens on my Vega, PS3 and Kindle. Frankly it wouldn't bother me if someone was to take it out at a later date, it wouldn't up my premiums or anything.

Rapidly going off topic, my apologies, but of course you pay for it. Every single claim is paid for out of the premiums of people who buy insurance. Where do you suppose the money comes from?

I wasn't talking about whether your premium went up, I was pointing out that defrauding insurance is nothing less than stealing from everybody who pays their premiums.
