Tweaks from CM7 Ginger 2.3 to Froyo 2.2

Hi All,

Go easy on me, this is my first post... ;-) lol

I recently got a SanFran, after my brother showed me his one, and thought their pretty neat devices.

Ive recently gone back down to Froyo 2.2 until the battery/proximity issue is fixed in CM7.....

Problem: What I would like is the ADW.Launcher and Theme Chooser that is in the CM7 build? I've tried to look for it in Market, but cant seem to find either....

ADW.Launcher (free) appears to be it, yet does not show up in Settings, nothing to tweak, hence missing the 5x5 rows/colulmns, and being able to restore my settings from the CM7 version of it... as there is now ADW that I can see once installed??

Also missing is the Theme Chooser, and cant find this on the Market either.....

Can anyone help, or point me in the right direction....?

Many thanks, Lister

Theme chooser is CM specific. so won't be in the market :(

As for ADW launcher.

Hit the home button once it is installed and you should get the option to complete the action using ADW...set it as the default.

If not go into settings -> Applications and choose Launcher and clear the defaults then hit the home button and see if it shows.

Hi Qwertzycoatl,

Wow, holy moly "Qwertzycoatl" damn your quick.... :( he he he --> thats a good thing...

Oh right, that will explain why I couldnt find Theme Chooser then.... :) Anything like it in Market, find it a little odd sorting/filtering in the Market.

As for ADW, I was getting that pop up when I pressed the Home and it gave me choice of Launcher (default I guess) and ADW. I chose ADW but didnt put a tick to make it permentant. It did change it, as could tell visually. But then my "Drawer?" was scrolling sideways.... and it wasnt showing in the Settings??

If I make it default choice, would this then show up do you think?? or do I need the paid version...?? Is the free one what they use in CM7 do you know/think???

I wonna be able to use 5x5 icons, and extend my Dock at the bottom to 5x icons too...

Is there any cool tweaks like that, that you know of...??

Thanks once again for a fast response... :(

Cheers, Lister

Making it the default will not enable it in settings.

I believe you will have to hit the menu button when on your homescreen and you can access the settings there for all of the ADW settings (sorry I use LauncherPro)

CM7 does use the free version so anything you could do in that you can do in the free version :)

Sadly because I don't use ADW I'm not sure of any tweaks to the settings that you can make to speed it all up ;)

You can't get the ADW option in settings, it is a CM7 specific stuff (that's why it has a separate, "internal" build of ADW).

As for the Theme Manager, it is built into the framework itself. You can't just pick it and put it into another firmware, you need to heavily edit the framework, some apps, etc. Also, you would need to mod a lot of things, the T-Mobile Themes Platform uses a lot of new APIs introduced in CM7 (SystemUI.apk).

You can change adw launchers setting using menu on home screen. It will not appear in the menu/settings list though. It's just a menu popup button...maybe preferences or something like that?

Hi Guys (all who have replied)

Thank you so much for all your help, and advice... its much appreciated, and very valued... I am learning lots seeing these helpful posts, and others.....

I've decided I am going to back upto CM7 as I really miss the 5x5 icons, and 5x icon dock.... so will just have to bare it...

And to be honest, I am not seeing a huge battery saving in 2.2 now anyway, not much diff to 2.3.2 or 2.3.3.... unless I have done something wrong??

But from a full charge at night (midnight/2am), too like about 34% by 5pm on normal use, barely used as a phone/calls, couple of mins on WiFi.... and drained so quick. This is a brand new phone, like 2x weeks old if that.

Do I need to re-calibrate battery or something, or is this normal...??

Thanks, Lister

Using free ADW: menu --> more --> ADW settings --> screen preferences and drawer settings to set up layouts. Can definitely do 5x5 I just checked. I can't comment on battery life in much detail, although with flb r10b I find battery drops very little when screen is off, but battery drops quite fast when browsing etc, probably due to overclocking

lsweeting,

You sir, are a god.... thank you.... :( thats exactly what I was after!!! :(

Well who would of thought they would sneak/hide them settings there??? Sorry, still getting use to the Android system. I've come over from the Apple platform, and know Apple inside out.... but I got the major hump after less than two years they now call my iTouch old, and not worthy of the latest update....

Hence my venture into Android, after seeing my brothers one... :) The one thing I loved in Apple (with Jailbreak/Rooting) was the expanding the 4x4 into 5x5.... so glad I can do this now... ;)

Thank you once again, and to all who helped... thanks guys!!

No worries, ADW has a lot of settings to fiddle with, but it's well worth taking the time to set it up how you like. I'd also recommend lowering the LCD density (search LCD density in the market), it'll make all the icons and text a bit smaller which makes everything look much slicker! I'm at 190 and everything looks sweet! You can change it temporarily with a free app, paying for the beansoft app and saving the setting did bad things in the stock rom, but works fine in FLB froyo.
