Guest simonta Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Hi gang I don't like having the dock showing, a la iPhad style, on every screen. I want each screen to be unique, with each one serving a specific purpose. I'm using Launcher Pro. To this end, I've blanked all of the dock shortcuts and set the dock background to "none". This achieves the result I am after but, I can't find anyway to open the app drawer, ideally from a shortcut or widget on the home screen. I'd prefer not to switch to ADW but would if there is a solution which achieves my goal. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch Simon

Thanks a bunch Simon If there's a way in Launcher Pro then someone else will need to tell you (not the best start to my reply). But I'll just let you know I've done the same in ADW and changed it so the home button in the notifications bar will take you to the app drawer if pressed whilst already on the homescreen. Much neater :(
Guest Minimonkey Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 You can swipe the screen in adw ex to open the app drawer if that's any use.
Guest warriorscot Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I have it set as part of the home button. one tap goes to the home screen, two taps to app drawer and three to go to my default home screen in launcher pro. Have you blanked it out as in it doesn't work at all or as in it works but you can't see it if its the latter just set every button with a swipe to open the app drawer and no press action.
Guest simonta Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Thanks for the responses all. Spent a sleepless night migrating everything over to ADW, now working as I want it - cheers. For anyone reading trying to decide between LP and ADW, my only comment so far is that ADW seems to be more customisable but lacks the smoothness and transitions of LP. For example, the bounce "overrun" is not nearly as nice. Thanks again Simon
Guest rayraven Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 ^The option is in Launcher pro too, under Behavior settings, Home Key Action.

Thank you, was aware of that but I was looking for a home screen shortcut which ADW provides. If I could find a way of doing it (even tried shortcuts to the LP activities but it doesn't expose an "app drawer" activity) I'd happily switch back. Cheers

As you don't seem to need the dock, you could have just had 5 shortcuts to the App Drawer then just press and hold each one, select Change Icon and then use a blank icon. Then you could launch the app drawer by tapping any of the invisible icons. Or am I missing the point? Alternatively, there a few app drawer alternatives on the market, you could just try one of those and launch it with a regular shortcut.

I was after an icon to tap rather than an invisible one. I did search the market for app drawer replacements. I'll search again in light of your advice. Cheers
