Hi there, I just did my first ROM install, thanks very much to the guy who posted the YouTube tutorial it worked first time. The problem I have is whilst the new Jellyfish RLS9 looks cool I much preferred the keyboard that came with the Orange clutter. I can't do smileys now :( Also, there is no £ sign even though it's set to English UK and my contacts don't show up when I press Messaging although that's not such a big deal as I can go into Contacts and there is a Messaging/Phone choice beside them.

I send a lot of texts though so that's why I would like the most flexible keyboard.

Thanks for any advice

NONE of the 2.2 ROMS have the contact list on when you create a new message. start typing their name and their number will come up. Also, there are tones of different keyboards available on the android market, just do a search for keyboard, see which of the many you prefer. Swype is good. Google sywpe on your pc to download an apk installer file.

Oh thanks very much for the quick advice, I'll give that a go, thanks for the Contacts tip too.

Och it's saying something like Swype will have access to your passwords and credit card details if you use them, bit dodgy no?

As for the £ character; check it isn't under ?123 then ALT. That is where it is using my ROM (feck knows which version; definitely a 2.2 but I don't know which one).

Hi Konstipated Kiwi, thanks for replying, I ended up downloading a free trial of Swiftkey and that seems to be quite cool. Still not as fast as buttons but maybe with practise :(

If you like swift key you should definitely try swype.

Its the best keyboard I've ever used on a phone.

That warning is a standard android thing when you install any third party input device, just to indicate that because its scanning input you enter it could in theory capture it. Swype is developed by the people who invented t9 productive text used in just about every mobile ever.. So I recon they can be trusted, theres a also a lot if phones shipping with swype so those manufacturers must trust it.

Even the keyboard that comes with other roms would have had that warning if it want pre installed.

And the other keyboard the orange rom had that you liked is probably TouchPal if you wanted it back.

Hope that helps.
