Liquid E SMS performance in cooked roms/ rooted devices

Hi

I am running the first 2.2 update from Rogers on my Acer liquid E( this is without the new patch from acer).

Its better than 2.1 stock BUT i am getting MASSIVE lag when typing SMS.

This usually happens when I have 1000+ messages in the particular thread. Therefore, it takes 20 seconds for the Inbox to open, then it takes another 20 to open the thread with 1000 sms. Very annoying and the single thing I dislike about the Liquid E.

Furthermore, when typing the KB cannot keep up and it hangs and only catches up after 10 seconds in a rapid burst of typing.

I wish to know if the custom roms for Liquid E fix this issue??

If so, what rom did u use that offered a performance boost??

Please help, I am seriously considering a used BlackBerry, this really makes the phone hard to use.

I too am facing this problem. I think that it is Acer-related in some way.

This problem first occurred in Eclair leaks but LCR fixed it (in LCR-E). I think Acer fixed it in official Eclair releases but it seems that it has resurfaced in official Froyo releases (weird).

As far as custom ROMs go, the best solution might be to use a ROM which is not Acer-based. Problem with that might be potential bugs.

Smoothest is probably CM7 but problem with that is camcorder does not work.

I believe MIUI has all hardware working but problem with that is that it is MIUI (I personally am not a fan of the iPhone look but alot of people seem to like it).

Are there any LCR Froyo that have this issue resolved, despite being Acer based?
