Guest gitf@ce Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) I was having real problems trying to play video files... tried just about every conversion method going, including a myriad of different players. I have discovered however that I can play virtually anything via network share (albeit for only a few seconds before a streaming error). If I transfer a video via wireless it works flawlessly (just takes ages to download), but if I transfer the files direct to the SD card, or via the USB cable (in host mode) the files will not play?!?! Are they becoming corrupt in some way? I have tried using 6x different SD cards of varying sizes... still no joy. Am I missing something here? I am using Win7(64) on a quad core Intel machine. Any advise much appreciated... Edited March 13, 2011 by gitf@ce
Guest Country Bumkin Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 This is for the Vega with a stock 1.09 firmware and no mods. First thing I ask is how did you format the card, i.e. in Windows 7 via the adapter or in the Vega, because I had problems when I used a new 8 Gig card previously formatted in Windows. The card worked fine once formatted in the Vega. Next, with Windows 7 you can just plug the Vega in via the USB cable and Windows will recognise the Vega, install the drivers and when the ‘Turn on USB Drive’ button appears on the Vega screen, will use the SD card as a simple removable drive. I copied a Star Trek avi video file on to the Vega as a test via this method and it plays fine, sound is a bit tinny but otherwise watchable.

I just plug in the USB cable set Vega to mount the card as drive and then navigate via file manager (qdir in my case).
Guest gitf@ce Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 (edited) After trying to copy video files via every means possible and still unable to play anything, I have to conclude there is something inherently wrong with my Vega. Very odd as I have no trouble with anything else. I purchased mine in December from Dixons, does anyone know if I can walk into Currys and ask for a replacement, or do I have to go through the hassle of sending it back?
