Leaking screen, warranty questions

Hey there,

My device has been afflicted with the leaking screen issue (it didn't fell, I had it in my pocket, I pulled it out, turned it on and there it was!)... My problem is that it's currently with LCR-F 2.0! Is there any way they can check the rom version through ADB? They can't see anything through the screen...

Also, is it possible to flash a rom without actually inserting the pin? I think I tried to flash the phone once without the SIM card and it didn't work (the phone wasn't in OS mode). Can I flash the stock rom through recovery, btw?

Thanks,

Just restore your phone back to official 2.1, and then send it in.

Download Acer Download Tool 3.1 (I think it's, if it's wrong version please tell me) and download an official acer .bin that's 2.1 (or 2.2 if you have got Liquid E, if you have got an A1 you should go for the 2.1, to make sure you warranty is still there) and reflash with Acer Download Tool.

And that leaking screen is something that warranty will cover, if you wonder. I sent my phone to them one week after I got it and got it replaced.

And why would you need to enter pin when you flash? Just launch the phone, make sure ADT detects the phone and then flash. This will also delete Malez Recoevery, and flash original recovery instead.

I am a bit tired right now, so I hope I actually answered what you were asking and not what I think you were asking about...

:(

*edit*

Make sure to backup all important stuff, reflashing a .bin will delete exactly everything on your phone memory. But you don't have to worry about your SD-card.

I tried to flash my phone once, without the SIM card inserted and the ADT said I wasn't in OS mode... Anyway, I'll try that on Sunday and I'll report back! Thanks!

I just hope it takes longer than a month for it to come back... I badword hate my liquid and I want a new phone, if they take longer than 30days I'm entitled to my money back :(.

If this had happened 3 months ago, I would be entitled to a refund the second I entered the store... :(

Too bad I don't have an USB cable here at this moment, if I had one I could have plugged it in and checked if flightmode counts as OS mode. It should. But if it does not work you can always boot to fastboot. Copy 'n' paste from the sticky thread:

"- Camera button + power button = fastboot (fastboot commands must include USB ID, e.g. 'fastboot -i 0x0502 reboot')"

If that does not work, then I am out of ideas. Or, if you have an old SIM-card, use that one instead? That would work fine aswell, for as long as your phone is not locked to another operator.

Hopefully something that I just wrote actually works in practic, and not only in my head. Could have tested what I just wrote if I just knew where my USB-cable is ^^

Good luck!
