updating to mcr7 to mcr8 questions

Have tried to search the forum but still not sure about a few things hence the post

Am currently running 1.06.5. And mcr7 and generally very happy with the Vegas performance but I do get a few issues such as screen artifacts, some WiFi drops etc. Also expecting a new 32gb sd card arriving tomorrow. So taking the opportunity to update the rom as well

So questions:-

Is it worth updating to1.08 or 1.09 image? If I did this I would lose my apps and settings, although I presume can restore with titanium backup? Part of the reason for upgrade is to install clockwork mod via Rom manager which you need 1.08 for

Or could I just update over current setup, would my setup be retained or would updating the image provide a cleaner install? Would ROM manager also work with this route?

Lastly for replacing the sd card, I see from another thread you can just copy everything to pc, pop in new card and copy from pc onto new card, I presume this is the easiest way

r8 is a modified version of 1.08 and it's a full rom so installing it over 1.09 will just take you back to 1.08. However as far as I know 1.09 didn't include any changes that weren't already in the r8.

And I just copy and pasted the old card to the new one easy as pie.

Is it still worth clean install from 1.08? If so would titanium be able to recover the system settings as before?
