ROM for a lady

I just got my GF a desire and I thought I may as well root and put her on a custom ROM right from the start. I have an HD2 and have flashed many android ROMS. At least on HD2 I know that not all are 100% stable and have little issues.

Obviously the Modaco kitchen is a good option, but if I am going for a custom ROM, are there any recommended roms that are optimized a bit more for things like better battery life?

I want something that is 100% stable so it doesn’t have to have crazy features or OC.

I don’t know if she wants Sense or not yet, but I if not, CM7 seems like the obvious choice.

What about a Sense ROM? Is the LeeDroid ROM really stable or is it a little bit experimental?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Leave it stock unless she complains about space

space will be an issue i know, so i will need A2SD.

So you'd suggest the MCR with A2SD?

Personally I'd recommend my own version of the Sense ROM. It was one I made for myself but it was flawless. I can upload it if you want it?

It has A2SD+, some battery saving mods and most of the apps available on the Market removed (can obviously be downloaded from the Market). I also removed a ton of widgets I never use but if you wanted them back in it wouldn't be an issue

EDIT: Post number 1,111 - nice! :D

Thanks for the offer, but I would prefer to go with a 'established' ROM, as if i have issues I don't want to be PM'ing you about it. (unless it has a release thread you can link me to?)

Im thinking of LeeDroid.???!

I never released it as it was just a stock ROM that did what I wanted it to. I've had no issues in the 5 months I've been running it as there wasn't a lot of modification. LeeDroid is a safe bet but my ROM is smaller and, IMO, better if you just want a stock ROM

Fair enough if you don't think I'm established but established ROMs don't necessarily mean they're the best. Why do you think I made my own one? :D

oh I see.

I just didn't want to flash a ROM, end up with a few questions/issues and have to hassle you about it.

If you could post, I'll give it a try.

2.2 with A2SD and some battery tweaks sounds perfect!

It's also deodexed (for theming, you never know), ZIP alligned and that's about it. Just had to remake it so it still has all the stock apps in it and I'll upload it when home from work (upload speed is better at home)

I'll get link up once sorted, it doesn't have a radio included but I recommend the one that comes with 2.29.405.5 as that's what it's based on (32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27)

I switched to LeeDrOiD (latest version) from MCR a couple of months back and it's been very stable so that would probably do the job. :D

You are overrating establishment roms. :D

+1. I only use them as a base for my roms. :(

But some of them are really nice though.

starburst rom was the best for me in terms of space and stability up to now, leedroid is also good but i like d2sd better than a2sd

its basically stock rom with d2sd, requires an ext4 partition and a fast sd card such as class 4 or class 6, has some other stuff too

i use it with a 16gb class 4 card and it runs perfect

you can find the rom and more detailed info about it at http://starburstrom.wordpress.com/

I've actually tried Starburst ROM on my phone and it becomes really sluggish after a week or two so I have to reboot the phone.

D2SD works nicely but I suspect that it's the cause of the slowdowns I experience.

It's a shame that cyanogen doesn't have the same wifi coverage as Sense roms have at least on my phone (the bar in my apartment stays at two lines while Sense roms show four lines).

But that's OT.
