Hi

Wheb I connect my Vega using the usb cable and start it in recovery mode I get a notification that NvidiaUSB boot recoverydriver can be safely removed. This driver also apperars in device manager under USB controllers. However when I try to run the R8 rom I get a message in the dos window 'Waiting for device' check debugging is activated. I have checked this and it is activated but my laptop doesnt seem to recognise my Vega. Can anyone help please

Best regards Brian

Hello again Brian .... it may have been better just to update your previous post rather than starting this new one but since you have can you answer these questions :-

- What operating system is on your laptop?

- Are you still able to boot the Vega alright i.e. Use it on the original v1.09 system?

- Is the power adapter plugged in?

It sounds like your USB drivers are still not installed correctly but we need the answers to the above before continuing

Had the same problem with R8 modding my vega. Some genius solved my problem which may be the same issue I had.

Right click on the device driver "Nvidia USB boot recovery" in control panel and delete it. Check for hardware changes at the top of the control panel and when prompted make sure you click on "have disk" for found new hardware.

Find the folder "USB driver" within the downloaded file but don't select any specific driver within the folder, let windows do it for you.

Once installed, then run the command prompt and the "install-windows" line of code.

I continually had the "waiting for device" for hours and it was all down to the wrong USB driver self selecting and not the one in Paul's R8 package. Once I deleted the Nvidia usb and pointed towards the folder it loaded a totally different USB driver package altogether..

Good luck!

Hi Trevor

My laptop is running Vista

Yes I can still reboot my pad and it all works fine

Power is plugged in.

I tried deleting this driver (Nvidia one I mentioned in the post) as it doesnt seem to work. When I reconnected my vega and started it in recovery mode windows tried to find the APK driver but failed so I set it to look in Pauls Rom 8 files which I had downloaded and un zipped. It still failed to find the correct driver.

Hope you can suggest something to try

Best regards Brian

Don't put it in recovery. Boot your Vega normally, then go to Settings->Applications->Development and select USB debugging. A new device will appear in device manager. First try updating it by right clicking then manually browsing to the drivers downloaded with R8. If that doesn't work, delete the device then add by going to control panel, add hardware (XP) or right clicking computer in device manager and selecting add legacy hardware (Vista/7). In either case, don't let Windows search for a driver, always tell it to install manually and select the drivers from R8.

Good luck
