Guest exup Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi, I have an issue with my phone where it is rebooting when on charge and now quite a lot when just using it for basic stuff. (It gets stuck in vendor splash screen reboot loop) I think its a known problem. Anyway before sending back I want to make it look its never been rooted. I have backed up the original ROM. If I restore this ROM (Which at the time of back up was rooted) and uninstall super user, clockwork mod, change USB Debugging mode, would this make it "unrooted"? Do I have to do anything to HBOOT or is that standard? Is there away to check what your original Radio Rom was? cheers
Guest EddyOS Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Backup will be rooted as well, you need to get the RUU that matches the original version running on the unit and flash that
Guest exup Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) Hi OK, if I flash that will it also remove the clockwork mod recovery part? This is where I get a little confused between the ROM (O/S of the phone)and the custom recovery image (The boot-loader or Win PE) In my case I used Unrevoked, which I think reflashes the recovery mode of the phone? Then that allows me to install clockworkrecovery, from there I can then image the phone with any ROM. So if I refresh with RUU of the original phone that removes the clockworkrecovery console and the phones ROM. So the steps are, re run unrevoked, but this time select the custom RUU.EXE from File > Custom Correct? Edited March 16, 2011 by exup
Guest EddyOS Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Flashing a stock RUU will remove EVERYTHING related to the rooting process and return the phone to 100% stock
Guest exup Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) Thanks Eddy, sorry to be a newbie, do I just copy the RUU.EXE to SD card then flash from the clockwork recovery console. Only the RUU I have is an EXE and Unrevoked is looking for an IMG file Update a quick Google and it appears I need to run it via HTC Sync, I use Linux and never bothered with HTC Sync before. so will fire up a windows machine install HTC Sync and then execute it fingers crossed. PS and tips on the steps will be much appreciated. Edited March 16, 2011 by exup
Guest EddyOS Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) An RUU (ROM Upgrade Utility) is a Windows program so you just run it. It will then ask you to connect your phone so do so. Best way is to: 1. Turn phone off and then back on again holding the back button to get into FASTBOOT 2. Connect to the PC and when it shows FASTBOOT USB on the screen of the phone run the file It'll then flash the phone Edited March 16, 2011 by EddyOS

Guest exup Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Hi I tried the ROM extraction method, reboot into HBOOT it found the file and started a progress bar at the end it said. Older version found, only giving me the option to reboot. On reboot no change. I have also tried connecting it to a Win 7 machine to run the exe but Win 7 does not recognise the USB device, (thats after installing HTC Sync) Theres an exclamation mark in the device drivers and have tried to install or repoint the drivers to the HTC drivers folder in programs files but windows says its got newer drivers?
Guest EddyOS Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 What RUU are you trying to use and what HBOOT version are you on?
