Guest scooby_d0o Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi I'd love to use live wallpapers but worried about how they shorten battery power. Your thoughts I had it running on mine but took it off coz i thought it was killin my battery. Maybe just me but im sure it made a substantial difference once i changed back frm a live wallpaper
Guest trevor432990 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Hi I'd love to use live wallpapers but worried about how they shorten battery power. Your thoughts I have used live wallpaper since I first got my Vega and I cannot say I've noticed it eating battery as evidenced in my recent post to a battery related topic. :D
Guest .stu Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Live wallpapers not only drain your battery noticeably quicker, but from my experience they also cause the transitions to lag and not be smooth. This is especially noticeable when opening the app drawer. YMMV.
Guest tdroza Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Probably not the most helpful reply, but... "it depends". Different live wallpapers have different levels of complexity. In increasing order of battery consumptionSome live wallpapers are little more than simple animationsOthers are a bit more interactive and respond to touch screen eventsSome will send and receive data at regular intervals (e.g. to show weather reports) I suppose it's all relative - if they only reduce battery life by 2 or 3% then does is it really noticeable (I'd be surprised if they had more than 5% impact). The best advice would be to try it and see for yourself, then decide whether it's acceptable to you. It's possible to take battery conservation to extremes - I know someone who has a plain black wallpaper on his phone because black uses a bit less battery than bright colours. His phone looks very dull as a result though! :D
