Any ideas about broken display

Hi

My daughters SF screen is screwed up - blank on 3/4 of the screen to the right and distorted on the left hand side.

Can power on and use the touchscreen (even in the bit that is blank, as she has a lockscreen pattern).

Is there a chance it is repairable ? And how easy would it be to get and replace the display ??

Also, is it possible that Orange would replace it under guarantee (its only 2 months old) ?

Would it be likely that Orange would spot that it is rooted, rom'd and unlocked if the screen hardly displays anything ?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Is there a chance it is repairable ? YES And how easy would it be to get and replace the display ?? Hard if you haven't done it before but not impossible

Also, is it possible that Orange would replace it under guarantee (its only 2 months old) ? Not if you broke it by dropping or hitting it they'd know in a flash if it was damage done by anyone and not a natural fault (it sounds like its been dropped or something fell on it)

Would it be likely that Orange would spot that it is rooted, rom'd and unlocked if the screen hardly displays anything ? (YES If the phone turns on and works - even if they display does not)

Thanks in advance for any advice

Of course you can take it back to orange for repair or replacement unless the fault is "man made".

OK - thanks for the replies.

Had a quick Google and look on eBay and it doesn't look likely I'll be finding a screen too easily, unless I take a chance on buying a phone for parts (I'd tend to assume, rightly or wrongly, that the screen is gone on a phone described only as "not working").

Well - maybe I'll have to try to wipe Clockwork and get the stock rom back on there, using the little bit of screen that I can see.

I suppose its not too bad if I can recoup some money on eBay for the parts - someone paid nearly £13 for the back cover !

Anyone have any idea how much would I have to spend on a new phone to get something significantly better than the San Fran ?

My son (at uni) told me tonight he had his cracked screen replaced by Orange for £20. Seems a reasonable price considering he has a flashed rom and a giffgaff sim in it. :D

I've sent in a Rooted phone for repair and they didnt check. Just flash the B10 TPT and send it to orange.

Actually, I called Orange and they told me they will send a new replacement phone by courier, which I will swap with my broken one.

What about that for service !!?
