Guest dr_nick Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I have searched on this and while there are several posts, they all just say "use the stock portable wifi app that congress with froyo on HTC phones". while I can happily and security connect to the portable hotspot this creates, for the life of me I cannot get the Vega to use the shared internet connection. I cannot connect to my email server (stock email app) or stock or 3Rd party browsers (miren, dolphin). I also can't get planet to work over Bluetooth either (my preference as would conserve battery on both devices). What am I missing? Dr_Nick
Guest Lennyuk Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 This might sound stupid but are you sure mobile data is either turned on or working on your desire at the time you tried?
Guest Kevrae Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 which network are you on as with my desire HD orange lock out the wifi tether option(it appears to work but doesn't let anything get on the net) i have my phone rooted so i use just wireless tether from the market and it works fine.

Ah I see. Orange to blame - surprise surprise! may have to get round to rooting my desire then; need to get rid of all the bloatware anyway but never been brave enough... Thanks!

You need to root your phone, superuser permissions app i downloaded, then had to use another wpa supplicant file to get the vega to connect in ad hoc mode. Pm me and i will fire over my ad hoc wpa file i used.
