I would like to replace my screen

Hi all, long time since I've posted here.

I have had my Desire for several months now and stupidly didn't buy a screen protector and have managed to get a few small scratches and one that's more noticeable.

I would like to buy a replacement screen if possible but am not sure what I would need to go for.

Mine is Super Amoled Screen.

Would somebody be able to point me in the right direction of the correct one to buy and if possible, I would like to know if it's an easy job to do or should I leave well alone?

If anybody has done this before and has some guide pics, that would be most helpful.

I haven't found this topic on the forums but am going to have another look just in case I've missed it so do apologise if this has been discussed before.

Thank you in advance.

It'll be the digitizer that's scratched - better going to get it repaired than trying it yourself tbh

Yes, I did wonder if that might be the case, now for my next question, where would I go to get that done? lol. I guess any mobile phone repair place.

Maybe I should just put up with it, it only shows when the screen is off and doesn't interfere whatsoever with performance.

Definitely time to get a screen protector though.

Thanks Eddy for replying so quickly.

Personally, I'd go to HTC but if you can find a reputable repair shop then they should be just as good (and probably quicker to get it repaired)

As for recommendations, I've not got a clue!!

Thanks, am just going to sell it I think, it's all working fine and apart from a few scratches on the screen, nothing wrong with it. Will just have to put up with not getting that much for it.

I just had a look on mazumamobile.com (if you are in the uk) and they will give you 147 pounds for it.

I replaced my screen last year after a drop into concrete. Ouch!

It's not perfect (I can see my homemade double sided sticky tape strips on the left had edge of the screen) but has been working perfectly since.

There are various tear down guides available, and it's not something for the faint hearted to try. The existing surround/glue is a begger to get off cleanly.

But I'm quite proud of my repair and since then i've developed a bit a of a rep for being able to fix most digitiser and LCD damage amongst friends and family. :D

Prices will have been bound to come down since I replaced mine (£30 from ebay) but I doubt they're as cheap as iPhone screens (about £6-7 including the tools)

LOL, well done you, I'm not that brave. Am not going to bother replacing mine.
