Guest Brianrh Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Hi I read a bit on this forum about Android Commander and thought it would be a handy tool to have. I followed instructions from it to install the Java Development Kit and Android SDK Tools and Android Commander appears to run but can't find my San Francisco. I have the phone connected to my laptop running Widows XP and the phone set to USB Debug Mode but Android Commander comes up with device not found. Any ideas on why this is happening? Brian
Guest arpakyna Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) You could try installing USB drivers linked in the ROM installing guide. Drivers here : http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...rivers-and-adb/ Some users report these drivers work when the first do not work : http://flibblesan.co.uk/android/zte_driver.zip Edited March 17, 2011 by arpakyna
Guest Brianrh Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 You could try installing USB drivers linked in the ROM installing guide. This sounds likely to be the problem and I will give it a go tomorrow when I get my laptop back. Thanks for your help. Brian
Guest Lew247 Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Definitely install the drivers it's the best tool out there - so simple to use.

Sorry to Highjack this thread a little, But Lew247, Can you please advise on what are the minimum requirements to get Android Commander to work correctly for the blade? I do not intend to do any development work on the Blade, not yet anyway, as I'm a noob to all this Andoid stuff, I just want to be able to browse & maybe remove system apps & install apps to the phone, check what's installed on the Ext2 partition, that sort of thing. I know I need the Android SDK, and the USB Drivers, but do I also need the JDK and any other additional tools? Thanks!!! Regards MB
Guest Brianrh Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 You could try installing USB drivers linked in the ROM installing guide. Worked a treat and it reminds so much of the old Norton Commander of the good all days. How good is it at backing up and restoring apps? There seem to be problems at times it seems with Titanium Backup especially the free version. If I flash with a different ROM can I confidently re-install the apps with Android Commander and expect them to work properly? Thanks again Brian
Guest Lew247 Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Can you please advise on what are the minimum requirements to get Android Commander to work correctly for the blade? From their website Requirements Phone Requirements: - ROOT (only for Applications Manager and flashing options) - BusyBox (required only for rooted phones; included to most ROMs) - Settings->Applications->Development->USB debuging must be enabled - USB cable PC Requirements: - Windows - Instaled Android SDK * - Instaled ADB USB Driver from SDK - SDK/Tools set in System Path (program can set it for You ) * Download the Android SDK: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html * Installing the Android SDK: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html I honestly cannot remember what i downloaded before I used it as I had tried many things before this and I already had ADB working. Yes its very much like the old Norton Commander - now that's a "blast from the past" one of the few Norton programs that was actually good and worked with no problems (the old Norton Ghost was the other)
Guest Lew247 Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 as regarding backups I have only used it to save copied of installed apps I never try and restore them "as they were" I will not use Titanium backup as I know from the one time I tried it that it does not restore 100% and its simpler to just install things again as I have the apk files I know you can save the data from apps using Android Commander (or ADB) by copying the folder relating to the app from some data folder which you could then restore after flashing a new rom and you'd have the app back exactly as it was before you flashed the rom but I'm not sure which data folder I "THINK" its /data/data but I'm not certain
Guest Miracle Boy Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Thanks Lew247!!! Your help is much appreciated!!
Guest Brianrh Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) Excuse my ignorance (again) but should I be able to removed apps built into the phones ROM or just those from the memory card and RAM with Android Commander? AC runs on my system and I can see folders on the phone including the SD card, etc but don't know where to look for these built in apps. Sorry but AppBrain keeps seeing File Manager and Books and prompts me to update these then can't update them every time. I am currently using Cyanogen Mod 7 Nightly 25. If these are silly questions apologies again but I inclined to being a full time newbie. Brian EDIT: I tried to use the search function to find things but can't get this to work on the phone or my PC harddrive either? Thanks. Edited March 22, 2011 by Brianrh
