Guest TroutT20 Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) I'm sort of in the same boat in wanting to make my own, but am just starting out, here is mysuggestion: 1: Go make love to Android SDK. Really get to know how it works with phones. 2: Make a couple test apps. Get the source code of your device if possible. See how they make it work with a phone. I've noticed a lot of the work is reverse engineering is some aspects. I've learned a ton, but mainly from how companies have created their stock roms for their devices. Guest ravendagrey Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 I'm also VERY INTERESTED in learning how to make a custom android rom, I've done the first step and built a Athlon 64 3200+ with 2 GB ram and a Geforce 9500 GT and installed Ubuntu 64 bit I'm just waiting for gingerbread 2.4 to come out and to find someone to take me under their wing sort to speak.
Guest xdxdxdxdxdx Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 1.extract system.img and boot.img from .bin. 2.unpack system.img under linux. 3.create update-script. 4.pack it up.
