Hi Guys,

New to forum and also Vega.

Just unboxed and I am delighted, But I have a few quick questions.

1. Can I install Android Market or Appbrain without flashing a new rom onto vega (I am frightened to death of bricking my 1 hour old Vega)

2. If the only way is to upgrade the ROM can it be put back to stock rom at anypoint if it has to go back to manufacturers.

Many thanks guys.

1. No one has managed to brick a Vega yet. Follow the guides and you will be fine.

2. You can just run the 1.09 update from Advent's site and you will return to a stock rom in 5 minutes. Easy.

Although sometimes things get a bit fraught, it usually work out in the end. I agree with people who say it is impossible to brick the Vega.

Yes, you can go back to stock and the Advent Vega team have made it clear that they are not worried about people upgrading. In fact, last time I looked there was a link to Modaco on the Advent Vega website.

Here is a good link

Thanks guys I feel a little happier now.

So.

I have checked my kernal version on the Vega and it is 1.09 (I have also downloaded full 1.09 from the official site and the USB drivers just in case anything goes wrong.

Is it now a question of going to the kitchen and downloading the MCR flavour that i need and then following the "Step by step guide to install the MCR (MoDaCo Custom ROM) Add-On using a Windows PC" part here

http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...p-update-guide/

or is it not that simple ?

Sorry for being a noob

My vega was 10mins old when i installed Pauls custom r8 rom -i didnt even bother to charge it up, think it was about 30% out the box lol

As of r7 the mcr is no longer an add-on, but a full ROM...

most of the guide is still correct tho...

In short: connect your vega to the pc, install the correct drivers (can take some effort if you're not on xp) and run the installer...

Have fun!
