Nuevo 2.1 ROM (based on DE 2.1)

For anyone who has absolutely nothing better to do this weekend, I decided to see what all the excitement was with the DE 2.1 rom. But I couldn't leave it as-is. :D

So if you want to beta test YAER (yet another eclair rom), have at it.

Basically, I'm just trying to make sure I have a stable rom to build off of. All the bells and whistles will come later (if I'm still motivated after I test it myself). So,.......

• Root
  
• Apps2SD
  
• Espresso theme
  
• Replaced the Contacts app
  
• Minor mods in build.prop
  
• Enabled all language settings
  
• Installed Chinese IME
  
• Removed a bunch of stuff out of /system (language packs, apps that get updated often, etc.)
  
• No swap (yet)
  
• No OC (yet)
  

Oh, and I'm running it on top of the old UK official, but it should install just fine on the newer roms.

Well, I think I answered my own question. The rom works "fine". But that's the point. It only works "fine". There is nothing special about it. In order to get it to work as well as my current Froyo rom, I'd have to add swap and probably OC and do a few other tweaks. But why bother when my Froyo rom is working as well as it is? Seems to be no point in downgrading, at least not for me.

So if you find it useful, enjoy. But I most likely won't be updating it. You of course can feel very free to take it and use it in whatever way you want to. I'll leave it up as long as it is still being downloaded (and as long as I have the space on Mediafire to have it sitting there).

Hey twrock, thanks for this rom and the other ones you've done. Is there an OC kernel for 2.1? I'm getting the Cyanogenmod SMS bug occasionally and I wonder if this'll fix it.

(Unless the CM7 2.3 comes... I'm really wishing for that one)
