Guest Muncles Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 hi all i havent installed the 2.2 or debranded my phone yet as i am worried i will brick it or that it wont work as well. i have read that the newer version of the SF bulid B10 has problems with the custom roms. is this true? i have read so many threads of how the 2.2 firmware makes the SF so much better in every way but i dont know if i should try and install the custom rom. if i do does anyone know which one would be the best? thanks.
Guest JimJam707 Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 I have a B10 an have used FLB-Froyo AND CM7 with no problems.
Guest brokebloke Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Bought my B10 last week from argos, apart from no fast boot issue all custom roms i have tried work fine !!

Guest andynx1 Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) I've been doing this all day, and succeeded - but I'll save you a lot of time: 1. Root with universalandroot, I had to press the "root " button twice. Google for universalandroot. 2. Download your preferred rom I used the jj9 one. 3. Put it on the SD card. 4. Install rom manager (its in the market) . 5. Within rom manager, flash clockworkmod recovery. 6. In rom manager, do a backup. 7. Again in rom manager, instal custom rom from sd card. Select clear both caches. That's it. Actually easy, if you follow these steps. Make sure your battery is charged before you start. Edited March 21, 2011 by andynx1

Guest DrEzkimo Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 let us know how it goes, would be good to see if this issue is affecting only a small amount of users
Guest craigieboy7 Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 No problems so far(touch wood!), with mine. Got it today and jj9 is running fine!

Guest DrEzkimo Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 so what the heck was up with the users who posted issues with the B10 then?
Guest g-rasshopper Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 so what the heck was up with the users who posted issues with the B10 then? I think there are too many people reporting problems with the B10 phones to dismiss them as isolated occurrences. One possible explanation is that there are several different hardware variants of the phone all using the same B10 firmware.
Guest ronc2000 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 I think there are too many people reporting problems with the B10 phones to dismiss them as isolated occurrences. One possible explanation is that there are several different hardware variants of the phone all using the same B10 firmware. That is one explanation but I think that possibility is small. Many users reported problems, many reported no problem and I am sure many more users without problems did not report. One "concludsion" I draw is that there must be some mistake, somehow non reversible, made somewhere along the process, as this is the biggest variations among all users.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 a lot of users have reported after installed a custom rom screen become unresponsive
Guest Muncles Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 a lot of users have reported after installed a custom rom screen become unresponsive i installed two roms this morning and had no problems with the screen. the only problem i had was the usb wouldnt connect. so i went back to the orange stock.
Guest Muncles Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Usb and camera sorted. i have noticed it crashes for a few seconds when i use setcpu. but other than that it is running great. the camera is alot better and i can record in vga. i dont think i will be going back to orange stock just yet. thanks guys for all the help. if anything happens i will let you know.
Guest GreenGit Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 I got my first San Fran about two weeks ago from Argos (B10), flashed it straight away with Cyanogenmod7 and screen was completely frozen. Same with Modaco custom rom, but with FLB, screen worked fine.....for about 3 days, then it started freezing more and more often. After a couple of days it froze completly and when i reflashed the original rom, it worked untill I rebooted, then locked up completely. Returned it to Argos & got a replacement (also B10) about a week ago, still working up the nerve to flash the first custom Rom on to it. Keeping an eye on this and similar threads to see if anyone smarter than me can figure out the problem! I'll update when I finally pluck up the courage to flash - probably in the next day or two!
Guest abarthman Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 There is definitely an issue with some B10s. I got a couple of OSFs within a few days of each other. Put JJ on both and one is fine and the other has an intermittent unresponsive screen. I used the exact same method to install JJ on both. I put FLB FroYo on the one with the non-responsive screen and it is still unresponsive sometimes.

Guest Muncles Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 i am going to try JJ9 today. to see if it works better than the flb. having had the 2.2 i do now find i prefer it to the 2.1. i will keep you guys informed to how it goes. hopefully it will work ok. :D
Guest Muncles Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 so far everything is running ok. but i havent turned it of yet. i am running the jj9 rom. i will let you guys know if anything happens.
Guest andynx1 Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 maybe orange might bring out their version of 2.2 Possibly, but it'll be all "orange" - messed with and full of bloat. Then again, if they did it might help with custom 2,2 roms for the osf. Andy

Guest m1k33d Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-the-zte-blade/ works perfectly on my OSF B10 (JJ9 via Recovery Manager)
