Music App Starting on its own....

Hey guys, I have had a unique problem over the past 2 weeks. Randomly I will put my phone down with a full charge only to pick it up 1-2 hours later and it is completely dead!! At first I had no clue what was happening, but then I actually caught it in the act. By checking what was using my battery, 40% of the consumption was the stock Android Music app.... Strange as I have NEVER used this app, and the phone is not making any sound.

It just seems as though Music app randomly starts (but doesn't actually play anything) and will not stop unless I power off the phone (even a force stop doesn't work). This problem occurs once every couple days, but it's a huge PITA for me. I have tried re-installing the apk, I have tried clearing all data... not sure what else to do.... any suggestions?

ps. I'm running Steves 1.8.1 and I usually get at least 20 hours out of a single charge with my usage, but with this problem I've been getting as low as 4 hours. Also, my default music app is PowerAmp (as in the one that auto starts when earplugs are inserted... so that's not the problem)

Thanks in advance!!!

Is just delete it using root explorer from /system/app/, the 1.9.0b5 seems stable, I bet there's a final release in the next week, is switch to that if I were you.

I tried but you can't delete system apps... only "install, view, or cancel"... It's driving me nuts! I already had to charge my phone twice today! I was at the gym for an 1.5 hours and it went from 100% to 33%.... Argggh!

I will (as always) install 1.9 when it's available, but it's just frustrating me that nobody else is having this problem. I also started 1.8.1 with a completely clean install - wiped everything from my phone.

Yeah I got it to remove shortly after posting, we'll see if battery life holds up. Thanks.

Let me know if it fix the problem. I noticed the same problem. Downgraded to 1.6.1 because I didn't have time this weekend to troubleshoot.

So far it seems to have worked.... Music apk is gone, no more cursed battery drain. Forced removal through Root Explorer seems to be the answer. Battery at 96% and almost 3 hours since unplugged... So grateful things are back to normal!

Is this the Honey Comb one?

It comes with the google music sync. It drains power uploading all your music to the cloud somewhere for you to be able to stream it. Seems it still has a few flaws as it never seems to stop syncing.

Can stop it syncing by going to settings - accounts - google - music.

Or as you've done, remove it!
