Guest h3ct0r1 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Hello, Last week I bought the Globul Z3 (ZTE - Blade) phone with android 2.2 If somebody is interested I can make a dump of it. BTW it goes here out of the box without a simlock.
Guest machode Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 I'd give it a go but i've got oled. damm. Hello, Last week I bought the Globul Z3 (ZTE - Blade) phone with android 2.2 If somebody is interested I can make a dump of it. BTW it goes here out of the box without a simlock.
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 I think on general principles it would be useful to have.
Guest oh!dougal Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 (edited) Hello, Last week I bought the Globul Z3 (ZTE - Blade) phone with android 2.2 If somebody is interested I can make a dump of it. BTW it goes here out of the box without a simlock. Welcome to the forum! 1 - there is a "romdump" script which should collect the contents of your phone. http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1489932 2 - for the moment don't try and install ANY custom firmware (rom or recovery) since it probably will NOT work. ZTE seem to be changing to a second-generation "G2" scheme where things are loaded into memory in a different place. ALL the other 2.2 releases so far have been in this G2 style. It is pretty likely that there will be G2 versions produced of good custom firmware, but right now, you are ahead of the game. 3 - would you be prepared to try a different "rom backup" method? It might help some of the gurus to understand more of the G2 differences. Now, assuming that your phone is a G2, the bits RomDump cannot see would be very interesting as well ... There is a Windows program ... (and its password) which should allow you to backup all the phone's rom contents (even the 'hidden' (not-Linux-readable) partitions) One use of the program is to "download" firmware to the phone -- but don't do that until there are appropriate versions for you! But if you could backup the hidden partitions that could well be useful ... http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...c/#entry1582879 http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1636063 Edited March 20, 2011 by oh!dougal
Guest renegade027 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Just out of interest - how much does Globul charge for the Blade in BG?
Guest Sebastian404 Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Yes please use romdump and PM me a link :D
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Hello, Last week I bought the Globul Z3 (ZTE - Blade) phone with android 2.2 If somebody is interested I can make a dump of it. BTW it goes here out of the box without a simlock. Most likely it also loads the kernel to the same baseaddress as all the other official 2.2 Blades we've seen so far but you could try this app just to be sure: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1640580
Guest Jekle Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 ROM DUMP!!!! It's proberly not gunna be any different from the Comviq ROM that has been dumped so theres no need to s*** your pants over it.
Guest buboleck Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Just out of interest - how much does Globul charge for the Blade in BG? About 45 Eu with a two years service contract, "no pay as you go" for us :D Edited March 23, 2011 by buboleck
Guest wbaw Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) About 45 Eu with a two years service contract, "no pay as you go" for us :D 45 euros a month? :D You could get an iphone 4 with about a million free minutes & a free tv for that here. Or is it 45 euros upfront + 2 year smaller monthly payment contract? I think Orange have it for free on a £10 a month contract here, or it's £79-£100 on pay as you go with no contract. Or is it 45 euros upfront + 2 year smaller monthly payment contract? I guess 45€ is the device itself, and the contract's monthly fee remains. In pay&go it would be approx 100-110€ (if there were such option). What are the specs, any more difference to stock than the Android version?

In pay&go it would be approx 100-110€ (if there were such option). What are the specs, any more difference to stock than the Android version? Most contract phones here in the uk are 'free', no upfront cost for the phone, just the monthly payment for calls texts & data. Often get extras like cash back, free gifts, a few months free or half price by rebate, etc, too, especially for 2 year contracts. So the san francisco is free on a £10 (€11?) per month contract, I think you get 100 mins of calls & 100 texts or something like that, not sure exactly, that's the rough minimum anyway, 18 month or 2 year contracts are standard. Either that or £80 + £20 credit on pay as you go, so that's like €110 with €22 of calls/texts/data included & no contract. Anyway, did we get a dump of this Bulgarian phone yet? Come on guys, help us out. It's only got Android 2.1 (Eclair) over here, we need some more 2.2 Android versions... updated files & stuff like that. There's a good chance that a lot of the roms here wont work on your phones without a few simple modifications. We do have better than your stock roms, but there might be some updated files that will help us to improve them even more. These new android 2.2 blades will be coming out in other countries soon too & there are a few small but important differences for all the roms, so we need to do a bit of research on them. If any of you Bulgarian guys knows anybody that knows anybody that works as an engineer at your mobile phone operator & can get hold of a copy of the update that they use which contains all the .mbn files, we'll love you forever. It'll either be a zip file with an image directory containing some .img & .mbn files, or a large .exe file. Edited March 24, 2011 by wbaw

It'll either be a zip file with an image directory containing some .img & .mbn files, or a large .exe file. Well here in the "Eastern block", there are many types of contract. Cheap ones (around 5$ monthly fee) what only discounts a few percents of the phone (with such an option the blade is here 125€ instead of 160€), moderate ones (around 10-20$ fee) what discounts approx 50% (so around 80-100€ for the Blade) and indescribably high ones for monthly 60€ and Blade comes free (and many other phones). This last option is something like you described, many free mins and messages, and internet too. Minimum contract is 2 years. So, simply, stupid. BUT, I heard that Hungary is opening a fourth channel for providers (next to T-Mobile, Vodafone and Telenor), and Orange and O2 were interested in it. Hopefully O2 will come and then we can have GiffGaff too :D I am still trying to get the 2.2 TPT's, already asked in our city's main service point to mail me as soon as they get the update, so I can take it to you. TPTing back to 2.1 should be possible, but no way back to 2.2 after it! Or atleast, not to the old one. If we get the 2.2 TPT, it will be possible, so transitions will be easier.
Guest rubik777 Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Z3 in Bulgaria costs exactly 175 euros, contract free and unlocked. With 2.2 on it.

At this point, those who have (bravely or foolishly) used an existing TPT on a Gen2 phone (like the V880) seem to have made a brick. Using existing TPT methods on a Gen2 phone is NOT advised at this time! One more reason that a Gen2 TPT would be seriously useful. Gen1 or Gen2? Don't make a brick! Guest ThermalDroid Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Hmm very interested in this as its a FROYO ROM designed to fit the Blade and its by the techies who made it so very intrigued.
