Hi, I hope that you all may shed some light on my problem.

I currently have an unrooted streak 5 running 2.2. All was working fine until the other day when I lost the ability to make or receive calls or texts. The curious part is that i can still access the internet via a 3g signal. I know the phone was working as I have been using it for about 2 months and had made a phonecall about an hour before i noticed the fault.

I have spoken with the network provider (02) who have said there are no network issues and no barrs on the phone or call plan. I have tried the SIM in another phone and all works fine so this obviously points to the phone.

I have tried a factory reset on the streak and the problem is still there. I have also used the QDL tool from streakdroid and again the problem is still there.

Any help would be really really appreciated as I'm now losing the will to live and am about to test the strength of the gorilla glass!!! :D

Does it show a little air plane or x on the bars?

Could be you need to check your apn's.

Also that you have not turned of the radio, but you say you still have 3, sure its not actual using wifi?

Check if under wireless and settings > mobile networks > network mode is set to auto.

reply with results!

Hi, thanks for the response,

I have no "x" in the notification bar, signal is at full strength and operators logo on display. Airplane mode is definately not switched on, that was one of my first thoughts.

Have checked APN's and nothing has changed as from the original 02 PayandGo settings.

Radios are switched on but not sure if they are working, the only proof i have that they are working is the fact that i can connect to the internet via 3g. I have double checked this and it is definately not connected via wifi as it was switched off and showed the data transfer in the notification bar as "G" not as a wifi signal.

Still have the same problem,

Thanks Jon

Compare the APN to http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device...;settingId=3266

It sounds pretty much the same, but yours in named differently, which is ok, but just checking settings!

Pay and go is when you top up, Post pay is contract, I'm assuming you have a contract though.

enter this into the dialler -

*#*#4636#*#* > phone options

Run the ping test

Does it all look similar to the attached file?

Except not in pink, Shoot me seems to be altered colours lol.

Also under wireless and settings > mobile networks > network mode - What was it set to?

Ok have checked all those settings and they are all correct apart from the username and apn as i am on pay as you go not contract (works out cheaper for an unlimited data plan!!) and i have checked the PAYG settings and these are correct.

have ran the ping test as suggested and all details were the same apart from the signal strength which was just slightly lower and my network type was GPRS.

The network mode was set to GSM/WCDMA auto

also while i was in the ping screen i turned the radio off then on again which did cut the signal and then re instated it. Does this prove radio's are working?

Problem still exists :D

Hmm, I only know those key options I'm afraid :D

Hopefully someone with more info about things may be able to help out.

There maybe something in the phones logs that can help show what might be happening. If you want to grab those?

Someone else may be able to point you to the correct log file.

Your running dell's stock 2.2? And when you try to ring out or text what happens?

Sorry I can't be of more use!

check the logs in data/systemlogs or the tombstones (both are readable as plain text) or zip and upload them somewhere..

Thanks for your help anyway DelSan its really appreciated.

I'll try and find the phone logs.

It was a stock o2 2.2 upgrade and has now got the 2.2 from the QDL Tool. I thought flashing it would maybe reinstall some drivers or something but it acts just the same.

When i ring out the dialer will activate the in call menu screen for a split second and then go straight to call ended. There is no connection and no ringing just an end call beep. If someone tries to ring me then it heads straight to answerphone. As for texts i can compose a message but it just will not send. It instantly comes up with message failed to send with the red warning triangle. Error message is Error-1.

I am currently carrying out this upgrade from dell http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A110100 to see if this can help.

Where would i find the data/system logs?

TIA

Thanks

No problem :D my problem is my bad english :(

Yes must be rooted! Root Explorer is a nice App but "Es File Explorer" [Market: ESTrong] is freeware and work also. When you use "ES File Explorer" u must go to options (root access)

OK have attached the 2 system files that were on the root explorer. I wasn't using the phone at the time of the fault happening. I used the phone to make a call at around 12.30 on saturday afternoon and then went to send a text at around 1.30 in the afternoon and it wouldn't send. I didn't think anything of it at the time just that the network was busy or something. Come the evening I still couldn't send any sms and tried to phone and couldn't call either. Between using it and the fault no damage happened. It wasn't dropped etc so I can't see why it would just stop.

I had a quick look in the files and can see something mentioning the SIM and the network but tbh these logs are a little beyond me!! lol

There are some logs in there as i've tried to use the phone after the reboots etc.

Thanks for looking fards :D

I think its O2's problem. I have the same problem as yours, and I have tried to change my 02 sim card into another moblie, still had the same problem. I think after a while it will work again, that is what happened last time, now its not working again. Hope mine will be ok soon.

Maybe the problem is the sim card, try to wipe it with a dry cloth

Ok as an update to this situation,

I have since been to O2 and swapped the sim for a new one just in case the sim was causing an issue. This has had no effect on the problem and the sim will still work in another phone.

Thanks to fards for taking the time to check the phone logs for me, much appreciated.

Any more ideas anyone? Thanks Jon.
