Guest quakkaz Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) hi, ive installed the latest android 2.2 modaco rom on my zte blade using the clockwork mod program. it worked for a while, but now i have a big problem, the phone will not mount or read the sdcard, no matter what i try. have tried reformatting it and tried a different card, but neither worked. theres also some other problem with the phone, the screen stays very dim all the time, and sometimes it flashes bright for a few seconds. anyway i want to reflash the original orange rom, so i can send it back to shop i bought it from. but i cant figure out how to reflash the rom without being able to access the sdcard. anyone got any ideas? i only have a few days left before the, 30 days return policy expires, so its quite urgent! Guest gremlinman Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 If it goes over 30 days then you will get a FREE replacement if requested before 6 months??
Guest quakkaz Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Fastboot method? thanks for reply, i dont know how to do it, but i will search the forum for more info. If it goes over 30 days then you will get a FREE replacement if requested before 6 months?? im not sure what happens after the 30 days, i guess there must be some replacement policy after the 30 days. i think the 30 days thing is when they will pay for the postage or pick it up from you.
Guest quakkaz Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) i found this page that describes using fastboot: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-the-zte-blade/ though it has instructions for installing clockwork mod, does anyone know if this fastboot method can be used to flash any of the available roms, for instance the Orange stock rom? or is fastboot only for installing the clockwork mod? if thats the case, then im screwed as the clockwork mod requires you to be able to access the SD Card, which my phone cant access... Hmmmm ermmm.... well Im pretty sure you'd want your card working, I cant think of any other ways ahh, found some more info on fastboot: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f8/adb-...-rookies-18124/ looks like it is possible to flash a full rom using fastboot. will have to try and figure out how to convert the zipped roms used for clockwork mod into a format that can be used with fastboot... after 30 days, you have to contact them by phone to get a replacement before 30 days, you can go into a shop and replace it thats interesting, though i bought it at an online only retailer, not directly from orange. can i still take it back to an orange shop in that case? Guest jeddy1 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 the sdcard doesnt work in clockwork recovery either, unfortunately. Try another sdcard
Guest quakkaz Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Try another sdcard i tried a new card, and that one didnt work either. it seems like the sd card reader on the phone is faulty. but i cant send the phone back unless i can reflash the rom. very frustrating... Guest Lew247 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 if the phone turns on and works put the rom on the sd card IF it will not mount and I con[t know why it won't - have you actually checked? - 2.2 roms the mount option is AT THE TOP ON THE NOTIFICATION BAR - PULL IT DOWN TO SEE THIS OPTION If it still won't mount you can still do it As you can get fastboot to work then ADB works also (while phone is on or booting) Simply type adb push /folder/rom-name /mnt/sdcard/rom-name where /folder = the folder your rom is in at the moment make sure there is a space inbetween the rom name and the /mnt and the folder must be the full location of the folder ie if you have a windows machine and its on your desktop it would be C:/users/username/desktop/rom-name or whatever location you have it in
Guest quakkaz Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) adb and fastboot work, but they cannot connect to the sdcard either, as i say, it seems like a hardware fault on the phone, the phone will not mount the sdcard. the card/s can be read and written to fine on the pc, and i have reformatted them on the pc to FAT32 a number of times, but they still cannot be accessed on the phone as well as the sdcard not being accesible on the phone, the phone screen also stays permanently very dim, and changing the brightness settings via the phones settings screen, has no effect. also the camera will not work, it just force closes, each time i open it. not a happy bunny, really need to get this sorted within the next couple of days, so i can send it back to the retailer and get a replacement... Guest quakkaz Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 i didnt saw all the roms but there are many stock.it should have for u one but i dont know if u can flash in via fastboot method.just check it. hi jeddy, thanks for responding, but its not really helping. i wouldnt be asking for a tutorial on how to do it, if the information was available on how to do it, i have already done a lot of research on the subject but there is no clear guide. i really do not want to spend a month learning the android operating system inside and out before attempting to restore the rom on my phone. surely someone out there can help with a guide to doing this?
Guest quakkaz Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 ive still not made any progress with this, when i try and use fastboot to flash a system.img rom, i get the remote file is too large error. ive also tried copying the image to the /cache folder using adb push, in order to flash it later from fastboot, but the push fails too, with the error no room left on device. anyone got any advice or tips on how to fix this phone? also curious, does anyone know any shops in london that can perform android repairs, and roughly how much it would cost to get fixed?
